Default Just got my screenguardz

Please Login to Remove!

Just got my screenguardz in, at first I was like wtf? There aren't big enough to fit the screen, then I realized that they are designed to only cover the area thatis viewable...

So the 1.5" square area is covered, but the cingular part and blackberry part of exposed.

That's kinda a gip in my opinion as I dont' want any part of the screen scratched. Wish I had known before hand.

When I actually get around to applying it, I will write more.

Exactly. Just got mine as well, and will be shopping for something a little more substantial. These are unacceptable...

Are you guys serious? Mine is sitting in my mailbox at home and now I'm seriously disappointed because for $10 (+ $5 shipping), I was hoping to get something "custom fitted" for the 8700 series. I could have taken a Palm one and cut a square out of it quite easily.

In my opinion, you'd be much better off cutting up a PSP-sized screen protector using the photocopier method mentioned earlier in this thread, rather than using the one from ScreenGuardz. I'm sorry I peeled off the protective film the device originally came with...

I emailed the company and got a quick response from the owner I think. He's added a disclaimer to the site so people know that it doesn't cover the whole glass surface. Very fast response

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with mine. The scratches on the rest of the clear plastic aren't as big a deal as the scratches in front of the LCD to me. However, if I'm going to bother with putting a screen protector on it might as well cover as much of the clear plastic as possible.

I've placed an order for custom cut protectors that are 56mm x 55mm. They'll need a little bit of trimming from that but it shouldn't be too bad...

I just ordered the Screenguardz yesterday, and received a note from their President today with an "oops...sorry about that...we'll refund your $ if you aren't happy". He should do the right thing and send out guards that cover the entire panel.

He just gave me a refund, even though my order had already shipped. He was very professional about the situation, and tried to do the right thing as soon as he understood the situation. For that - he deserves consideration for future purchases.

I just picked up a fellowes universal writeright. You have to cut it to fit the 8700c, it's not bad but it cost's $20.00 but there was an open box one for 8.00 so I picked it up. It's short 2 screen protectors so instead of 12 it came with 10, but it's not like I'm going to keep changing it every month lol. Because it's universal you can cut it to fit a psp, ipod, digicam, or most cell phones...

The president of ScreenGuardz had sent me an e-mail (looked like it was sent to everyone who purchased the 8700 screen guard) offering a refund if I was unhappy. I wrote back, thanking him for taking such an action, and suggesting that if they had plans to re-release the product so that it covers the whole screen, then I'd just be happy to have the replacement product. He told me that they are working on such a product, and hope to have it available in a few weeks...

Default Reference test

Found this article people might like to see. I assume people still haven't found a custom fit one yet.

I also bought the ScreenGuardz, got them today, and am bummed. Not even bigger than the 7100 screen.

Bummed.

The shipment was super fast though, and the email from the company was great sign. I hope they do make larger versions.

Default Looks promising

I emailed him and asked what the true dimensions are so that its not just the rectangular screen porition. I would keep all three as you will surely need a new one at some point. If you can, please let us know if they truly are a custom fit and this would be the best solution. Did you read the article link I posted?

I think the problem with screenguardz. Is that their manufacturing process only allows for cuts in rectangular shape. Therefore they can't really make a protector that covers the entire area. I offered to return my guards but kirk said to keep them and hoped I could find other uses. I used one on my razr and cut it to size. Its a pretty good product and if they do make one that fit I will def buy.

The actual material used for the Screenguardz is really nice. It's optically very clear. We'll see how it holds up. My measurement of 56mm x 55mm was a bit large but I had planned on trimming it down a bit anyway (at least it wasn't too small). Had some trouble getting the screen protector on but 1. I'm very picky and 2. I always have trouble applying screen protectors. On my first couple of attempts I managed to gouge the Screenguard with the included squeegee card (don't get over-enthusiastic when chasing those bubbles!). The gouges were just unacceptable as they caused chromatic aberrations.

Anyway, third time was a charm and I'm very happy with it so far. It would be nice if someone could offer a custom cut full cover.

Below is a response from that company. If you order now, they will be screen only. I will wait until end of month and then order.

"We are expecting a new shipment of 8700c that would cover the entire front surface by end of the month. Our current stock cover the viewable area. Let me know how you like to proceed.

Regards,
Karen"
