Default Latest OS: 9500 5.0.0.425

Please Login to Remove!

Software for Storm 9500 - Version 5.0.0.425
From Carrier: A1
Download: (127 MB | exe)

Download here: http://members.a1.net/updateservice/..._5.0.0.425.exe

Instructions for installing either version on ANY carrier's 9500:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Previous OS here: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...a-english.html

I had the same problems with SMS, from .419 to .425. installed a .425/.436 hybrid from one of the guys at BBhybrids.net, and the problem is gone. Consider doing that.

Hi, I've tried to install this version and successfully failed . After connecting the device and starting the loader application it only shows me the third party applications installed on my device and nothing linked to the 5.0 os. Also, if I try to add an .alx file from the shared directory it says that the file is incompatible with my device. I'm currently running the previous latest OS: OS: 9500 4.7.0.252/4.7.0.186 (EastAsia + English).
I appreciate any help you can offer.
Thanks

Should be pretty straight forward... install the .425 on your computer, go into the apploader folder and delete the vendor.alx file, turn off (or disconnect) your internet from your computer and run desktop manager.

I throw the internet part in there because sometimes the desktop manager likes to go out to the internet to find other OS's to install. Not always the one that you want.

...just my two cents.

Your two cents were very helpful. The desktop manager showed 5.0 as a possible upgrade. The problem is that after I select it, in the panel that is supposed to show the packages I get a warm message advising me to get a subscription in order to be able to enjoy this upgrade and I don't have a next button. I'm now trying to revert to the 4.7 version of the desktop manager (I tried to upgrade using the latest version) and I hpe this is a desktop manager problem... So wish me luck and please don't hesitate to post further advice.
Thanks

Hi, I've managed to update my os by following a guide posted on this forum: HOW TO: Upgrade BB with or without data plan!. Unfortunately I cannot post the link since I don't have enough postings. I hope this helps those who face the same problem.

Amgzone, I currently run this OS on a storm bought from Vodafone Italy, and my carrier is Vodafone RO, so I guess it will work fine for Vodafone UK.
