I've been doing a lot of research the last month and am just about convinced that the BB is for me.

My question for you all is do you have any regrets buying your BB? I know email will work great and the PIM features will work, but I'm hesitant about the surfing capabilities. I've heard you shouldn't expect too much, but is it that horrible? I know heavy surfing is probably out, but can you surf different forums and other websites?

None at all here, since the release of public MDS and third party html browsers for BWC, soho users it does the job and much better then the WAP browser. No its not my laptop but when in need to google, 411, BBF etc. it does the job just fine.

I do not regret forking out the money for the BB. My major concern was deciding between the Treo 650 and the BB 7290. I know a lot of people with Treo's so I knew the up's and downs of them. I do not know many people with BB's (except for here) and after messing with a friends Treo and playing with the BB at the AT&T store, I decided that the BB was the way tol go.

Surfing is another story. I have not done much surfing on mine except for this place and maybe my Yahoo mail once in a while. There are 3rd party applications out there that will make your surfing experience a little better. I hope this helps.

WebViewer by REQ Wireless seems to be the one that most people use.

Stever - no regrets (and I've had one for years) as long as you know what you are getting yourself into. You pay for wireless e-mail - and some people have difficulty with that concept. There is limited (but growing) amounts of third party software (like for eBay browsing). You have to play to its strengths - wireless, secure e-mail first, a decent phone, and then a web browser. Speed of browsing is related more to the network than to the BlackBerry. If anyone expects fast performance on GPRS (which provides 30-40kbps - dialup speeds) then they will be disappointed with any PDA browsing. EDGE and EVDO will help, but not quite yet. Don't get a BlackBerry just to do web browsing or text messaging (as examples).

No regrets here at all. I have had a Blackberry for 5 years now and if I lost my job, I would keep my Blackberry. I really like the device alot.

It depends on who you get the BB through too I love mine will never go back to a regular phone. I use my browser on limited things such as this forum and others. I do use it for 411 and occasional pictures and things. I havent found many places I cant go with it. I have paid my nextel bill with it at nextel.com I have surfed ebay with it as well. Paypal isnt a problem so I guess no regrets at all..

Can you make payments thru paypal on your BB? I just wanted to make sure since I do ALOT of buying and selling (more selling). Also can you go into your account and revise items that you are selling? My 7290 is in the mail and I am just making sure it does what I need it to do. BTW I will be using it on T-Mobile

This device does everything that I've always wanted a phone to do. I don't think I could go back to just a regular phone. So no I don't have any regrets.

Stever - I have been a long-time user of the limited web access cell phones provide. I had hotmail transferred to my phone, but it came through as a series of SMS text messages. I have now used my BB7250 through Verizon for about 10 days and am blown away. I followed the forum recommendations and loaded Webviewer and VeriChat and they worked flawlessly. I can communicate instantly with my office and have personal email forwarded directly. There is much to learn, but very little to complain about so far.

I just got my 7250 from Earthlink. I got it for the specifically for email and do not have voice on it yet (waiting for my Verizon contract to end for that). Having tried Verizon's WAP "web" on by cell phone and finding it absolutely awful/useless to use I had very, very limited expectations for web viewing on a BB. BUT, I have been quite impressed on quality and ease of use with the 7250. Reasonably fast too - speed seems similar to dial-up in a rural area. I don't know how big of variables hardware and provider are but I've been pleased with my EarthLink/7250 combo.

FYI Coverage wise - EarthLink, at least here in Calif., is using Verizon's network.

Good luck! Seems like there are a lot of choices out there.

depends on what you get the phone for. If you're planning on surfing the web (extra $20/month), and emailing/texting, the phone is great. But if your primary desire for the phone is cell type application, then consider something else. The sound quality is pretty bad (you can hear, but whomever you're talking to will complain), and it's difficult, if not impossible to put personal pictures/rings on your phone straight from your computer, without phone browsing capabilities.
