Loaded it up yesterday afternoon and I must admit, I am impressed. This upgrade took what I thought to be an already great phone and made it even better. The biggest change is the screen. It is much more "even" and the problem with the four bottom keys being unresponsive at times appears to be fixed. The ghost letters option is back (Options/Screen and Keyboard) and the ability to seperate and or combine all messages (SMS/MMS/E-mail) in to the main message folder (Messages/Options/Inbox Settings). For those of us on BES, we again have a messages folder named desktop (I believe this was in .328 for the S1). Dimming issue has been resolved also. Prior to the upgrade I hovered around 118 MB of free memory. I am now hovering at 128 MB. Battery life seems no different.

I have read of SMS/MMS and speed dial issues. Personally, the upgrade went smooth and I have experienced no problems. I highly recommend the upgrade. With any luck, Big Red will get on board with this one quickly.

I followed the entire procedure to upgrade the OS & even got the message that the upgrade was successful but my phone still shows the old version installed (5.0.0.320) instead of 5.0.0.428. What could be wrong with my Storm 2?

Thanks.

Go to the control panel on your computer and remove all BlackBerry device software. Then double click on the icon for OS 428 and install it to your computer. Plug in your Storm via USB to the computer- Go to C:\ProgramFiles(*86)\CommonFiles\ResearchInMotion\ Apploader and DELETE the Vendor.xml file. Then while in the same folder find and double click on the LOADER.EXE file. This will start the upgrade process and all you will have to do is step your way through to the end.

Thanks Jason......But tried that as well. Still no change. It just reinstalls the applications but not the operating system. How do I get it to install the OS?

Did upgrade today, total about 20 mins, smooth sailing, no issues at all. Will play around with the new OS in next couple of days, will let everyone know if I encounter anything.

Hi JSanders,

I need some guidance with installing the 9550 5.0.0.428 on my Storm 2. When I try to install it on my device it only gives the option of installing the applications but not the BlackBerry System Software. What could be the problem with the installation.

With the current software I cannot pick up calls at all. The screen just goes irresponsive when I get a call. So I need to upgrade the software immediately before I can use the phone at all.

Please advice.

Thanks.
