Default T-Mobile pricing for BES

Please Login to Remove!

I'm very confused regarding the T-Mobile pricing. i was thinking to change to TMO from Cingular, but changing does not seem to offer a price incentive as everyone seems to imply.

i currently have a couple of private email accounts redirected to my 8700 through the web client plus my company directs my Exchange email to my BB.

As i underestand the pricing on the TMO website, I would have to pay $39.99 to receive my Exchange email.

I was really surprised. I did not know that it could be split out that way.

Is anyone getting their Exchange email without getting the "enterprise email" service from TMO?

Nope. That's why they offer the BIS-only add-on and the BES add-on. You could forward your Exchange mail...

BES add-on should be $29.99 though. See http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/addons/...Sub_BlackBerry

I think you're looking at the data-only plan which very few people seem to use.

The rates if you use a BES server seem to be the same on TMO and Cingular.

Does TMO offer EDGE or 850 MHZ coverage? I currently have Blackberry 72xx devices on both TMO and Cingular. The coverage from Cingular seems to be much better in the DC Metro area.

I'm not sure I understand why you both think pricing is the same. Cingular's Blackberry unlimited plan is $49.99.

T-Mo's data-only plan is $39.98. If my math's correct that's nearly a $10 difference. If you're going the add-on route, the BES add-on is $29.98 (<$49.99).

The link you sent clears up the confusion about TMO's pricing.

Do you know if TMO offers EDGE service?

Yes, a simple search would reveal that people running around with unlocked 8700c from Cingular are getting EDGE on TMO. And no, TMO does not offer reception in the 850 range, that's Cingular only as far as I'm aware.

Does anyone know if T-Mobile charges extra to use Edge service. My local rep doesn't seem to have a clue.

TMO offers EDGE but the 72XX does not pick it up.
