Default Opera vs. Blackberry Browser??

Please Login to Remove!

Which one is better?

From what ive experienced It seems operas display of the page looks better as if it were actually seen on a computer. But Blackberry has a better interface with the bookmarks easier to access and it downloads stuff directly where in opera you have to go through the blackberry browser. In opera you cannot see how your reception either but in blackberrys you can.

Still on the fence though. What do you think?

I'm also debating on these two browsers...

I just Downloaded Opera Mini last week, I've been using the BB Browser since I got the phone and I'm not sure about Opera...

Maybe it's because I'm just used to the BB Browser...

One thing that peeves me about Opera is that on some sites where I'm supposed to enter a password, I click on it and it wants me to enter a web address and starts the www. for me.

I tried OM3 and really disliked the text entry screens (how a full window opens instead of just letting you type in the field.

Also with a BB many things you do require the BB browser only so I just use it.

there a few tradeoffs. it comes down to what you can live with.

The BB Browser allows you to:
Make bookmark folders
Install OTA
Get links from Email
Use the "Menu" key for menus
Forward links

OperaMini allows you to:
See URLs as they were ment to be seen
access HTTPS

If you were able to make OM the deafult, I think it would be no contest.

I just use both, depending on what site I'm viewing. Overall, I like the built in browser better.

Opera mini allows you to access a lot more sites. I use opera mini all the time. When you try to download it sends you to the BB browser, but who cares? It requires one click, then its done. I also like how the history shows at the bottom. The options for scrolling through the page are better as well. I only wish that I could make opera the default for when I click on links in emails.

I use both.

I use the BB browser for WAP sites and OTA downloads.

I use Opera Mini for regular web browsing.

Depends upon what site I am trying to access. I much prefer ESPN on opera than the standard BB browser.

It all depends on the site. I love the way OM shows websites, I hate the password entry feature, I love the Wikipedia and search from the homepage. Fix those and it would be by far the best browser.

Why can't they make Opera standard browser, or at least let user choose!

Nice comparison list but don't forget on the HTTPS security it does go through Opera servers so make your own judgements on how secure that is.

There is a specific setting required to enable an Intenet application on a T-Mobile BlackBerry to go out to the Web and not get routed into the BlackBerry network.

* Go to "Options", then "Advanced Options", then "TCP".
* Under APN, enter "wap.voicestream.com".
* Leave "Username" and "Password" blank.

"OperaMini you can see URLs as they were ment to be seen, access HTTPS and view web pages you cant with the normal BB browser"

I keep hearing the above but when I go to the same webpage on both browsers they all look the same, I can access my Bank thru both browsers so the BB browser must be secure, and I havent yet went to a site that would not open with the BB browser. I do have to fool with the BB browsers settings sometimes.

Can anyone give me a few examples/sites where the browsers display the same page differently and also an example of a few sites that wont open with the BB browser but will in OM3.

I know MySpace wont let you log in or something like that with the BB browser but I think thats because MySpace has an arrangement with OM3 and Cingular as I know others that dont use a BB and they have problems with MySpace too.

Just curious. Thanks.

Well, be happy you have the choice to add a 3rd party web browser.

rkkeller-

I can't give you a clear example, and admitedly the BB browser does a GREAT job with page rendering, But here's a few other things to keep in mind:

-Mini runs its pages through Opera's servers meaning, you are getting a trimmed/compressed version of the page. This should save time and data.

- Mini was designed to put the web on as many phones as possible, not just smart phones. Opera Mobile is the product that is targeted at smartphone users, but it's not available for RIM phones.

So Mini is the broad based, designed to run on any phone that has a data connection and can run Java. I think that we are having this discussion comparing the two products is a great testament to the folks at Opera.
