Default Trying to get current....

Please Login to Remove!

I am running Exchange 2007 in our environment which is a 2003 Domain. I am running BES and have been for the last couple of years. I was upgrading like a champ until release 4.1.7 which always came up with an error telling me to install as the user who installed the software, which was my BES user which was logged into the machine, controls logins to BES and used on previous upgrades. So, I am at BES 4.1.6.22 as I have not been able to revisit this.

I have been downloading the updates for BES 5 but initially was hesitant due to issues I saw being posted. SO, now that that has stablizied, and the fact I can't upgrade to 4.1.7, I would like to know if I can leap to 5 and what version? Or, do I have to go through multiple upgrades along the way?

Thoughts to getting us current?

Thanks.

Install v5 on a new machine with a new DB. Use the Transporter to move your folks. Be sure to install v5 with a generic user name (domain\BlackBerryAdmin).

There are in place upgrade steps, but you have to be the same admin user that originally installed the older BES.

Shouldn't it be installed with the account you want to use to run the services (ie. BESAdmin)?

Here is a suggestion:

-> Create a new account (eg.BESAdmin2)
-> Preform a switch serfvice account (KB04293-How to switch BlackBerry Enterprise Server service accounts)
-> Upgrade to BES 5

Note: You can upgrade from any version of BES 4.1 to BES 5

ALWAYS backup the BES databse prior to any significant changes!!!!
