Default Motorola IHF1000 Carkit

Please Login to Remove!

Hey all new to the forums but i thought i would start things off with a review of the IHF 1000. I have a 7290 running OS 4.0. The motorola kit is great! I would recomend this to anyone who wants a high end car kit. I had no problems at all wiht connecting to my BB. Everytime I turn on the car the unit connects automatically without any problems. This kit works very well with the BB even though its not offically supported. Placing a call is easy by pressing the Call button on the unit. Once you do the radio mutes and the Voice asks what you would like to do. If you say "Dial Number" it asks you for the number to dial. By saying the phone number outloud it repaets it you you after to makes sure you have got it correct. Once it is done you can say "no" to change the number or say dial to place the call. Also with this unit you can store 20 locally stored contacts with Voice Tags. This unit only uses speach to program and enter information. The speach works very well on this unit and barely ever misunderstands you. The voice quality is superb on both ends. Also when you recieve a call the unit will mute the radio and announce the phone number calling you. From there you can either answer the calll or reject it. While on an active call call waiting features are supported as well as mute. This unit I picked up for $249.99 US with free shipping to Canada. I can honestly say that this unit was worth every penny. Usually when I purchase somthing i am always a little dissapointed with somthing it doesnt do or could have done. The IHF1000 has not dissapointed me at all and can honeslty do everything I need it to and more. Installation was fairly simple to do as well. From start to finish is took me about 2 hours to install and clean up and hide all the wires. I can confirm that the IHF1000 Carkit works perfectly with a 7290 on OS 4.0

If anyone has any questions feel free to ask or Pin me!

Cheers,

Hi there,

Do you know anyone with a BlackBerry 7100? One of my bosses is interested in getting that car kit, but we're weary of compatibility issues with the 7100...

It seems like RIM did something different with the 72x0's Bluetooth implementation from the 7100.

Thanks.

We (I) have the IHF1000 kit installed in my car and it's one of the best kits I have ever used. The voice recognition is tops! The call quality is great and I can confirm 7290/OS4 compatibility. I can also confirm we could NOT get our 7100t/OS4 to work with it properly.

We have them in stock for those 7290/7250 users who wan to take the plunge:

I have the IHF 1000 and the 7290. The kit works GREAT!

I also have the Parrot and the older Motorola car kits. I definately recommend the IHF 1000!

Default Motorola Car Kit Installation

For those who have the Motorola kit, who did the install? If you did how difficult was it?

I did the install in a 2003 X5. Very neat and professionally done if I may say so. It took about 2 hours, but I really took my time. The difficulty level depends on the make of the car and how good you want it to look.

I installed it myself in a Toyota Highlander.

The only connections for me are 12v constant, 12v switched and ground. The rest is just routing and hiding wires.

BTW... I didn't try to connect it to the car radio. We did that with another kit in another car. It seemed like everytime the cellphone changed sites, it muted the radio.

Have fun... If you are fairly handy, it isn't too tough.

I did the install on my 2002 Audi with connection to the factory stereo. The Audi has a telephone input natively so the wiring protion of the install was very simple. The IHF 1000 has both a high level speaker output to work with it's amplified speaker, as well as a low level out to work with audio systems.

Just wanted to put in my two cents. I have had two Parrot 3100's installed in my '05 F-250. I also have a 7250 BB. The Parrot is good for about a 2 minute conversation, then the call is dropped. The place that installed the Parrot has now ordered me a Moto IHF 1000. Do you guys think the Moto will work better with the 7250? Also, I did like the conversation coming out of the front stereo speakers on the Parrot. Is the external speaker good on the Moto? Do you have an option to tie it into the stereo?
Thanks

Yes the external speaker works well for me. I opted to use the external speaker only because you can direct the sound wiht it a little better so the mic doesnt pick it up in conversation. You do have the option wiht the moto kit to use your stereo speakers. I thinkn you should be happy wiht this kit. As for myself I have had no problem nor complaints about this kit. Also I havent heard anythign bad about this kit from anyone.

The IHF 1000 can be wired either way - external speaker or through the audio system. If your audio system has adjustable volume in "telephone mode" then use the line level outs. If your audio system has fixed volume in "telephone mode" use the speaker outputs of the kit (connected to the audio system) so you can get a wider range of adjustability.

The external speaker is pretty load and mostly clear if not a little "boomie".
