i bought an unlocked 7290 on ebay and sent it to a friend in india. i forgot the password and it is now locked. We tried different combinations 10 times and it is locked now.

Any ideas on how to open it now?

There are many threads. You need to wipe it and download/reload the OS. Javaloader or JLComander are good options for wiping the handheld.

i tried that. can someone point me to which file they mean by the OS? Can you please post a link? i wiped it already BEFORE it got locked...do i need to wipe it again? if so how?

OS is in reference to the handheld operating system. Found at blackberry.com you carriers website or in the FAQ for that matter at the top of the general BlackBerry forum here. Javaloader and JL_Cmdr can be found by searching the forum, if your real lazy search the member list for our MOD d_fisher he has both attached to his signature!
