i find it weird that right before he releases the 4.1 information. His hd dies.

I once had the footage of who really killed JFK, but it was lost on my dead hd. j/k...

I hope this is true, but i doubt it. prove me wrong... please.

hey guys.

I just got off the phone with Cellular One support. I had asked them if he knew when the 4.1 software was coming out for both handheld and desktop. He said he didn't know but told me that I could use any unbranded 4.1 os software. Meaning obviously 4.1 software without the TMO, Cingular, Verizon coding. Anyone know where that can be found or even if that's available yet. I asked him if he really even knew what he was talking about since I don't believe you could find that anywhere but he assured me that yes he indeed knew what he was talking about and that the software they use for the Cell One phones is unbranded. Which would make sense, when I initially purchased my BB it came unlocked and worked with my friends TMO sim card.

he is correct, but he forgot to tell you one thing - it has to be the same radio. in other words, a CDMA device (7130e) or iDEN device (7100i)'s code will not work on a GPRS 7100g/t/v/x device. the same will go for when the 7130whatever GPRS handheld is released next year - the OS won't be backwards compatible completely, as the radio code will not be the same.

when TMO or Cingular or Rogers or whomever release OS 4.1 for their 7100 series device, then you will be able to load that onto your Cellular One device, provided you delete the vendor.xml file.

But it will not change any branding, or unlock a locked phone, or lock an unlocked phone.

as long as you point it to the 7100 gprs radio file meaning editing stuff to point to the GPRS files from 4.0.2 which is what i did since they are not hased i can put them in there with out a hitch. and remove the and change some of the iden tag to point at the gprs or mirro the gprs tags in 4.1 and bam the IDEN problem fixed. it is work if you would like me to take pictures of my cell phone showing the screens i will it does have 4.1

sk8, Can you just post the files? Is it that simple? You also said you still had some tweaking to do...apps creating errors and rebooting the phone, etc...any luck?

I'm in the process of loading 4.1 on a 7510.

I'm using the 7510 4.0.2 kernel but the Java folder from a 7100i.

Lets see what happens.

I extracted the error log when you put 4.1 on (with what he has been saying) and here is the JVM 200 error (use Javaloader.exe -u eventlog)

i remeber i copied the NET_RIM_CLDC.cod out of the simulator directory that is a part of my working model but i think i have all the files i need to restore my phone so tomorrow i will be wipeing my version that has os 4.1 clean and try to reload the version of 4.1 i rebuilt on this box and see if it is properly buit to work this will put me now back in the testing phase. wish me luck seeing as i have had the last 3 days off work i have been really able to hit at this again. but anyways wish me luck if it work i will be making a torrent with my files and a howto and will share it with all who wants. and sorry for all the not being around i am gettign ready to move to Tennesse so i have been a little preoccupied . but i am back at it. ANd tomorrow is the big day i need to get some ZZZ's and i am waiting on a call tonight so i don't want to reloadit caus ei have no lan line here just my crappy Kyocera Enrgi on cricket wireless poor poor reception and service half time when i get a call it don't ring so this tmobile is my only choice for important calls.

post it up here, you can have a few beta testers.

It is not like it will kill our phones. We can just reload back to 4.0.2 if there are problems.

Oh don't worry, some crybaby will load it and make some outrageous claim.

But 5$ says someone's going to come along and say "What benefit will I gain from loading this? Should I stay on 4.0.2? "

I tried just copying that file and it didn't work. The load error likes that file even less! Back to the drawing board.

I also noticed that the whole load works fine without the PkDBCache.xml and the specification.pkg files.
