Just thought i post this up... Lately been working on a IMEI unlocking genarator for the blackberry 7100x. soo far I'm happy to say I'm sooooo close. I'm 19 and a student at M.I.T and have been able to extract some parts of the generator. I have been able to generated 9 of the 16 number require for unlocking. took me about a month to get where I am but I'm happy to say... I"M soooooo damn close... I have check with people that have had there blackberry unlock and my generator is actully working. Just thought I post this up. maybe In a couple of weeks i'll have the complete genarator up for free. thanks for the space...

sooo far It's only been for the t-mobile 7100t. but I'm pretty sure that there isn't that big of a differene between other providers. I been working to too type of program to unlock the blackberry. one of the programs is base of brute force but In java format so that it will run on your blackberry. I been able to load the the ROM system Config. files off the blackberry and have been able to remove the unlocking try amounts but haven't been able to decode all of how the genarator works. but with the brute force it just keeps on throwing in 16 random digit until the blackberry is unlock... it coudl take days to unlock. I wrote the program but it is still in the trail period with some of my friends blackberry. the only known bug for this program that I'm trying to figure out is that after so many entery of the 16 ramdom numbers it freezes up and autoreboots and delects the program. I haven't been able to succefully unlock and blackberry yet with this method... the other method is the IMEI generator I have been working on with the ROM system data I have been able to extract. I been able to decode parts and have been able to generated 9 of the 16 number with no flaws so far. but there is a option you can turn on if you can load the System Rom config... Rim Handheld byPass. I don't know what it does yet but I"m pretty sure it's a back door to something very important. but so far I would say the brute force Java is about 95 percent done and the Blackberry genarator is about 80 percent done. In a couple of weeks or so I should have it done with the beta out. and then we can all stop getting rip off by those company who charge us outstanding prices to unlock a phone. thanks for the time

with the 7100t, can't you just call tmobile in 3 months after you first get the phone and service and request the unlock codes....and they will give it to you?

Hey, I have requested unlock codes for 2-3 BBs from T-Mo and I still have those codes with me.. let me know if that might be healpful in getting some idea about the algorithm.

You can unlock the 7100t yourself. You just need to have 90 days of service with t-mobile and your account must be in good standing. Just call them and ask for the unlock code and they will give it to you for free.

I also have the unlock code and instruction for my 7290 from Cingular if that will help you determine the algorithm

I thought I would need to wait for a year to get the unlock code from T-Mo.

Is it an idea for you to find out how the profiles in BB work? Maybe you can develop an profile for full bluetooth access. This might be something totally different but would be more helpfull for an greater group of BB users.......

What does the unlock code do? Just let you use another carriers SIM CARD?

True, wouldn't it be nice to sync your PIM via bluetooth? I don't think RIM would allow this cuz it would cut into the BES sales...

ya id love it.. i think linux gives us the freedom of having more apps than RIM does. i have a 7100g (cingular) but have the latest t-mobile firmware installed (2.0.2.32 i think). sadly enough its locked.

You should realize that the Linux OS would most likely be for a geek such as himself at a college such as MIT just playing around with things for the hell of it and not for the typical user of the BlackBerry handheld. If you thought bugs and reboots were bad now...

A linux based OS for the blackberry will all but render the device useless for push mail, or BES in general.

It's a nice thought, but virtually impossible.

Then try to unlock these and make them work, this is something more users can benefit from than hacking the unlock code. Most of the time you need a provider anyway, otherwise you don't have an connection. Don't know if it is that important to crack a code if a simple call can do the same. This is really nice for some people who have no good intentions with you're BB (or when you are tired of your provider or BB). The intention of the program is not bad, but it is just fooling around and probably more exciting than developing an actual need.

Don't misunderstand me truely4, it must be fun cracking codes, but than again, how helpfull is it..........
