nick_p,

There is no programmatic way to change the backlight to max brightness even thought the button does it. Backlight is only adjustable on the 7100 series devices.

I have a 7100T on T-Mobile. BWC (not corporate). No problem browsing web pages with the BlackBerry browser.

Here are more symptoms:
When I open a feed (full screen) I get the following:
Error: java.io.IOExcpetion: Max conne
the rest is cut off.

Also, even though the weather and stocks seem to update the date displayed on Pocketday often stops updating. For instance, event though the days listed are current, the "(as of 8/11/05 7:55 PM PDT)" is displayed and does not change.

I was thinking the new "BlackBerry Messenger" app might be causing the number of TCP connections to be exceeded but I can't figure out how to remove it. I've also noted that in the BlackBerry settings menu, there are two versions of PocketDay listed:
PocketDay 2.17
Pocketday 2.54
Note the difference in capitalizaion of the "D". Also, if I try to delete the older version, the following is displayed:
"Unable to remove PocketDay. It is required by IT policy application control." I am not on BES or corporate. Is there anyway to clean this up?

We could tell you or you could read the manual again.

r111,

The problem is most likely caused by the 2 versions being there. Try and delete the 2.54 version and then the 2.17 version. Use the desktop manager to delete them as well if you can't delete them directly on the device.

After trying this software for a few days, I purchased a license copy to it. It's very well worth it.

That out of the way, I have to admit that I am new to RSS. I have a few questions about it.

If I use a RSS feed from traffic.com and set it to update every 2 hours, when it updates, will it purge (delete) any expired reports? Or does that have to be done manually?

PocketDay overwrites any old data with the new data.

Must be talking about me, I still can't run PD effectively unless I change net_rim_pdap_todo.cod with the file from from the old version. Even with this new PD, I get an uncaught exception error when my BB boots up unless i change this file. The problem appears to be limited to just me and my device... She's mine and you guys can't have her...

Question Errors

All of a sudden I keep getting devnull errors with 2.55. Never happened before, and I haven't changed anything that i know of. It's also messing up when I delete emails from the main screen. It leaves a blank line for each deleted email.

Exact error is:

Uncaught exception:
java.lang.NullPointerException

jubrand,

Exit using the PD menu and restart. See what happens. Where do you see the devnull? Also, is that the exact error message?

Tried that without any luck. The error message seemed to be popping up when PD kicked in as the screen saver, but I'm not 100% sure. It kept happening when I wasn't looking. It may have also been happening when i received an email, but again, I can't be positive.

But, I uninstalled and reinstalled and that seemed to fix it. Plus it even kept my settings after the reinstall, which was a pleasant surprise. Thanks for the quick response though!

I can't seem to figure out how to set the speed dials.
When I go to Speed Dial then Set Speed Dial, I get my address book, but then what?

Also, I checked & unchecked the HIDE PD with ESC Key and saved, but ESC still goes back to the home screen. Tried it both ways..no luck.

Great Tool Mark, thanks.

You need to have an email address associated with the contact. You can put a fake one in if you need to and then remove it later. Once you get to the address book, select the contact and select email the contact and select an email address. A screen will come up to then select the speedial number. If you put in a fake email address you can go back and remove it once you have set your speedial.

Mark,

This weekend I traveled to the Ocean City, MD area and found that, since 5:53 AM on Sept 27, PocketDay would not refresh weather or change locations. It did not appear that it was sending anything - no arrows at all. When I tried to refresh MyNews, I got the error message "java.lang.NullPointerException". I exited PocketDay several times and did a hard reset and it still would not work. I still received email and could browse the web and get weather from weather.com but PocketDay did not work and, now that I am back home in Edgewood, MD it is still not working. Any suggestions???

Dusty,

Go to the main bb screen then options then Firewall. Select Reset from the menu then select Save from the menu. Then reboot.

Mark,

Thanks for the help. I had to do it twice, but it is now working properly. Any idea what causes it to suddenly stop working and require the Firewall reset?
