Ideally, I would like the following - if anyone can offer me strategies or ideas in dealing with T-Mobile, I'd appreciate it.
New 8700G activation on a 1 or 2 year plan offering:
1000-1500 anytime / unlim. night & weekends / unlim. mobile-to-mobile
Blackberry email / web / IM capability (I see the base plans don't seem to offer this).
I would love to pay < $200 for the device, as I've heard others do here, and lower the monthly service from the approx $80 it seems to be down to $60 or so (which I've also seen on the boards).
Should I be dealing with a corporate rep on the phone, in a store, web? Only having dealt with Verizon in the past, I'd like to get a better sense of how T-Mobile operates for people in my situation (note, I am the owner of a functioning LLC so should qualify for a new business account of some sort).
Thanks for any suggestions. I'm looking forward to having this great new device.

my suggestion would be, call customer care for both, business and personal... compare the pricing each give you and run with that...
business users tend to get better deals sooner rather than later.. but sometimes, the pricing is also higher...

Thanks guys......I'm going to go to the Short Hills NJ store today and give in-person a shot first. If no dice, I'll call both divisions tonight. There's also a Verizon store at the mall, so I might start at T-Mobile - ask for their best offer, then say that I'm walking over to Verizon to comparison shop on the Treo 700W.

ChopSticks:
Go with the BlackBerry Minutes and Mail plan, not the BB addon. The difference is the addon only gives you 50 txt messages recieved and 0 send for free. Text messaging is free with the BB Minutes and Mail plan. The difference? 1 cent. 59.99 vs 59.98. One sent txt message is 5 cents... so if you send one txt message you've made up the cost difference.

Yes, but then you don't get unlimited nights/weekend, right? Unlike when using the BB addon. It is confusing trying to pick the right plan...

btw, just to note (somewhere), i am now 5-for-5 on having to wipe the handheld before being able to activate these wirelessly. it gets to 'Waiting for Services' and just sits there. the server logs (BES 4.1 HF1) shows local cancellations. anyhow, wiping the handheld and then resetting the password and activating works fine. this is only for wireless activations - the one wired activation we had for this model went through just fine.

Just an update. After calling tmo armed with the info gained here in the forums, I am now only paying 350.00 with 50.00 mail in rebate. As opposed to the 479.00 they were going to charge me. Thank you all. I could not have done this without the knowledge gained here in the forums.

I got my blackberry in when i got home on tuesday. Since i wasn't able to cancel my current service even though i was out of contract my wife started a service for us.
I took advantage of the $249 deal included 50 mail in rebate/$100 instant rebate through their corporate sales.

Yes, without a contract. I just told them to keep it and that I'll just let my current contract run out. Then I'd switch my 4 lines to cingular and get it for free. They quickly changed the price.

unbelievable
I wish I have read this early, all of you are getting blackberry 8700g from tmobile at such a good price! I upgraded my phone after 11 months on contract with them. and I had to pay $299. $379 plus tax (but a $50 rebate from $349, so it was $299)
Is there anyway to ask for a lower price now? I just got it yesterday!
Question: How do I go surf from one open website to the next, when I want to open more then one website?

I dont think you can open more than one browser window at once.
On a different note, I went to the Tmobile store today and played with the 8700 for all of about 2 minutes and bought one. Just loading Cnn.com was insanely faster than my 7100. Faster CPU + EDGE = sweet. I was over my contract and got it for $199 w/ a 2 year contract extention. TMobile service is great in my area, so it was a no brainer.

I did get the BB 8700 for 179 + express ship + tax = $ 209.00
I am a long time customer who spends over $2500 per year with T-Mo so I guess if I got a good deal on a phone that just might be why.

I have been a t-mobile customer for about 2.5 years... I just called customer care after having the tmobile store rep tell me he can't do anything about the price, and like a lot of other people posting here, I just told them I was very interested in the new 8700, but the price was hard to swallow.. they gave me the 8700 for $199 w/ a 2 year contract extension. No hassle at all...

djseto : When you go on CNN, does the javascript pop up some kind of window asking you if you want to load another type of CNN page? This happens to me and I'm not sure if it correct, I always click no and it just continues loading the page. WHat browser configuration do you have it on?

Its so not fair with the prices on the 8700g, but i guess I'm over it! I love my 8700g. But I know I will feel like this again when my credit card bill comes!
