Default entering wrong password

Please Login to Remove!

After a long flight and bleary eyes I found that if you enter the wrong password 5 times - the Blackberry TOTALLY WIPES. I even tried removing the battery to reset the "counter" but it remembers.

QUESTION - if you enter the wrong code 4 times - can you WAIT some time period and get more than one try.

I don't believe there is any time period set to the automatic wipe after wrong passwords. The number of attempts is either set by you in >Options >Security Settings >General Settings or set by IT policy on your company's BES. You can try and change it to more but if it won't let you then it's set by the policy.

Fortunatly, though, if you are on a BES then when you reactivate on the BES just about everything will come back through the activation process. What all comes back, though, depends on the BES version.

Five? I always thought it was ten attempts.

Can't the BES admins change that if they want to? Also, I read the other day that some other setting on the BES automatically cuts the number of attempts in half but I can't remember just what the setting was (and of course, you can change it yourself to 5 if IT policy allows.)

Could be. I haven't look at BES Policies in a long time.
