No clue. Try resetting the device and re-activating. Other than that you'll probably have to speak with your system admins about what might be going on.

Default tHE SAME PROBLEM OF AMEDEO68

Hi, I've a blackberry 7290 model, I'm working in Italy for an american company, our mail server stays in USA, my phone company is italian (TIM provider)and my sim card belongs to TIM provider. My colleague in USA has made all the set up for the actvation of the blackberry and we checked all the internal set-up of the blacberry and everithing seems ok, but when we try to make the enterprise activation after some minutes (more than 20) fails.
Has somebody some suggestions or advices?
Thanks

Are you trying to do an over the air activation? Is there a reason you can't do a activation through your PC?

Hello,

i had the same problem on some over the air activation. The two things that seems to solve the problem was 1- reset of the blackberry device and 2- Get a new activation password on the server (be sure to have a unique password for that activation (seems like if you activate 2 blackberry with the same activation password... the process fail...).

I use the same activation password all the time for multiple devices. Never had a problem.

Did you activate two blackberry at the same time with the same PW? Beats me.. I know i had some problem and since I use different PW never got the issue again. Maybe i was simply lucky on my last activations...!

I had a problem not too long ago that was solved... look at this thread.

This may fix your problem, however, getting your sys admin to perform it is another issue. Good luck.

@sbpinbb, thats very odd since MS SQL has those enabled by default (unless you uncheck them during the install). MSDE is typically what you'd use that for.

Wireless Activation is flawed, however. If you have any Desktop [] service books prior to activation, remove them. You can do a LOT of troubleshooting for the device, from a security wipe to dbclean.exe running against your Exchange MAPI profile (on the user machine not the BES) to removing Cached Mode on Outlook 2003, etc. The easiest way for activation is to simply install Desktop Manager and let it register that way - same activation procedure but wired.

Did you choose Enterprise when you installed Desktop manager? I agree with lunchboxfett, try connecting it to desktop manager while logged into the mailbox you will be using. There should be an email in there that will take care of this for you...

dbclean.exe normally sorts these things out I find, always remember though, when OTA activations fail, change the password fo the user on the BES before trying to activate again as OTA activations are one hit wonders - if it fails once you must change the password otherwise it will automatically fail again.

If the user has a SPAM filter it usually detects the activation email as SPAM. I have to turn of GFI EmailEssentials (spam filter I use) during activation. See if the IT Admin in NY can turn off the filter during activation or create filter rule in there SPAM filter.

Let me know if this helps.
