Default Newbie - Email Reconciliation

Please Login to Remove!

My current set up allows me to sync my tasks, calendar, etc, with my desktop (Oultook 2003) but it won't sync my emails (Exchange Server). Is this normal? I've tried every configuration possible using the desktop manager, and still no go.
Am I doing something wrong? According to the help file, there's nothing in there that states I need to have BES for this to function, I'm just using the desktop and redirector software.

Any help would be appeciated.

Thanks for the reply.

I find it quit odd that RIM doesn't provide this kind of feature standard on all their blackberries. I mean, I can get a Palm for $79 that will do exactly that.
Yes, I know they're not the same, but it seems pretty like basic stuff.
My 2 cents.

E-mail doesn't sync on a Blackberry... ever. Not with BES, not without BES. IT DOESN'T SYNC.
E-mail is pushed to your blackberry through a veriety of methods. BES, BWC, Desktop Redirector etc.
Depending on your setup, deletions and/or message filing will reconcile to/from your Blackberry.

The reason you're getting bad information from new users such as BuZ is because everyone else is probably sick to death of answering this question.
Do a search, you'll find a ton of information related to your original question.

Pehaps I was using the wrong term (SYNC), I should have used reconcile.

Quoted from the Blackberry Handheld's Guide
About email reconciliation
Email reconciliation means that any message you file or delete on your handheld will also be filed or deleted in your mailbox. Likewise, any changes that you make to messages in your mailbox are reflected on your handheld.

This to me is a little miss leading, as no where does it say you need BES to accomplish this. What I really want to do is have my Outlook emails from my desktop filed in my handheld when connected to the craddle. My blackberry is connected to the craddle all day, and the redirector will not push any emails to the handheld while in the craddle. During the day I use primarily my Oultook, so my handheld never has any of my new or deleted messages.

What are my options for getting my outlook and handheld reconciled (wihtout purchasing BES? For instance, I have an email with a file, I need to email it to my Web Client (Desktop redirector will not push emails with attachments) in order for it to get to my blackberry, and doing so uses up much of my data plans MB limit.

And please don't get upset, I'm new and just looking for a little help. I thought that's what these forums were all about.

I believe the very first person who responded to your question had it correct. If you don't have Blackberry Enterprise, your emails cannot be reconciled.
