Default Bluetooth - Range Rover Sport

Please Login to Remove!

Just bought my father a Range Rover Sport Supercharged with integrated Blueooth...worked fine with a non-blackberry but does not work with his old 7105, and doesnt work with current 8700. Anyone have any ideas or expieriences with Range Rover Bluetooth connection? I am thinking maybe the device is a different bluetooth version than the car but don't think that should make that much of a difference. Plus with the 8700 I thought they had resolved car kit/handsfree issues for the most part. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the difference will make a difference. if the car only supports bt 2.0, then you're blackberry screwed. as far as i know, the current bb's are 1.2 at best. young self-proclaimed genius, use the scientific method. establish the facts, isolate the variables, then test the equipment.

so, what do we know to be fact?
1. bb's are bt 1.2 at best (i was told that 2nd gen 7100i's and 8700 might be 2.0)

what don't we know- the variable
2. range rover supports bt ver????
3. which ver of bt did your other device have?
this question is very important because it might keep you from needing to answer question #1.

check your BT area, on my 7100i I have a phonebook option to transfer it to the vehicle. You should be able to connect to the vehicle regardless of what version it is, since BT is backwards compatiable.

OT, but how does your father like the Range? They are on the list as a potential for my next vehicle.

And I guess this is sarcasm too then: ". . . ....for you reatrds . . . ". If instead of wasting time with sarcasm we were to be constructive it be a better board, but then again some people just cant help it.

Agreed. However, as you mentioned earlier, there is no need for someone to crack on the Boy Genius just because he bought his dad a Range and they are jealous.

I'm not even going to start with you MozMan68...In terms of the car, its cool, not my favorite but if your a Range Rover fan I would highly recommend the sport over the regular one if your not going to be going offroad much. Basically onroad biased...

Yeah, I would only get the sport... If I wanted to off-road, I would probably get an LR3 or a different manufacturer's vehicle.

I have a 2005 Land Rover LR3 - Which I just had Bluetooth added. I get very unreliable results with my 7250. Just got it back from the dealer on Friday and the salesman with the most knowledge indicated that other Blackberry owners had problems at first, but that it 'learned' how to deal with the problem. Interestingly, I tried my 7250 unit with a 2006 with the Factory installed Bluetooth, and it worked wonderfully (at least in the showroom). Having paid a considerable amount for this Bluetooth solution, I sure would like it to work. The unit is made by Nokia, and the book does not indicate which version of Bluetooth it is.

Wow, I can’t believe I am just NOW finding this thread… Considering I’ve owned both my Range Rover Sport and 8700 for a few months now…

Boygenius, I have my 8700 working on a ‘not-trusted’ level with my RRS. Every time I enter the vehicle, or wish to use the Bluetooth, I have to manually ‘connect’. On my 8700, I’ve set my middle button (on the front) to be a shortcut to the blue tooth menu so I just click two buttons and I’m up and running. The entire connection process is extremely finicky and honestly ˝ annoying.

I called my a quasi-friend that works at the dealership and he said that the problem could be with the vehicles software. He said that the dealerships are receiving new software for the RRS about every 2-4 weeks. I just received the most recent software version about 2 weeks, which didn’t seem to aide the auto-connect problem…. I guess I’ll just wait until the next software update for the 8700 is rolled out and try that.
