Default SMS Threads - How to Disable

Please Login to Remove!

I just moved from a Tour on Verizon to a Bold on Verizon.

I don't really use SMS to communicate, but do receive hourly e-mails from my e-mail server letting me know that it's alive and well...no message means server may be down.

On my Tour, I could glance at my SMS in-box and see an entry each hour and know all is well. Now on the Bold, I only see one message with the last time a message was received from the sending address. I actually have to check the time to know that it's current as opposed to seeing a bunch of messages and knowing all is well.

The Tour had a configuration in the Options -> SMS Text screen called "Number of Previous Items" which I could set to zero to see each SMS individually, but the Bold with O/S 5.0.0.699 doesn't have this option, and I can't seem to find it anywhere else either.

Does anyone know how to achieve what I'm looking for?

Thanks in advance.

Nope.
OS 5 now has "threaded sms", all convos from one person together.
There is not an option to go back to the old style; and the only way would have been to downgrade to 4.6.X.XXX but that isn't an option for the 9650.

Also, wrong forum.
This belongs in the 9600 Device series.

Moved to the 9600 section

Tri-Tip, please update your profile to reflect the proper device - are you using the 9630 or the 9650? I assume that it is the 9650.

It helps to know exactly which device that you have, by model number, not the name.

I actually posted this thread in the Bold page, which is the name on the back of my phone, a moderator moved it to Tour.

Before, threaded SMS was an option why take it away???

May be enough of a problem that I pass the Bold along to someone else and go back to my Tour, or just return it to Verizon.

It was never an option.
People wanted threaded SMS, so RIM made it so. They didnt make an option to go back to the old style.

The option of downgrading is available on devices that came with an OS lower than 5, which the 9650 doesn't.

It was an option on the Verizon Tour. Verizon is touting the Bold as an upgrade to the Tour, and this feature is no longer an option.

No, it wasn't an option.
The Tour shipped with OS 4.7... which did not have threaded SMS.
OS 5.0 has threaded SMS.

If you don't like threaded SMS, then the Bold is not for you. No sense getting all bent out of shape.
Just return it.

You can't change them back but you can see them the old way by opening the SMS folder. Menu. Select View Folder, then select the SMS Inbox. But there isn't any way to make it open in this view so you would have to do this each time and I doubt that will be acceptable for you.

It's not a real big deal to me but I kind of liked the old way better as well.

There must be a 3rd party SMS client that does what you want.
