I have to take the battery out to fixit. My urrentverson is 4.7.0.148. I tried checking for updates, but it says that there aren't any. Please help me!

Well, yes...but I'm new to these forums and I don't really understand much that I read. I followed a link that looked like it was going to update it, but I ended up at page that said "Software Update for Mobitel Bulgaria" which I really didn't think was the right thing.
Sorry for being so dumb about these things. (I tried to post the link that I followed, but the forum won't let me)

Well the forum normally has OS from different carriers, so once you can find the OS for your device from the link then go ahead and download it, install it and the follow the instructions provided here

I followed a link like this : worldwide.blackberry.com/update/blackberrystorm and clicked on "check for updates." It started downloading something, but it never finishes downloading...just gets to 14.5MB every time and nothing else happens

I have found the correct place to upgrade my OS, but every time I try, the download freezes while downloading modules. I have tried upgrading, and also I tried to downgrade with the intention of then going back to the current OS. Neither one of these worked, and I have tried on more than one computer. The farthest I have gotten is module 301 of 323. Any suggestions?

You should be able to go to Verizon's update page and download their latest version directly from them link here: BlackBerry® Software Updates
When the file is downloaded, install it by double clicking it.
Make sure you have the latest version of Blackberry Desktop Manager.
Re-boot your Blackberry. Connect it to the PC.
It should prompt to do the download automatically.

This happened to one of my several replacement devices. It would lock up when doing almost anything - often several times a day. It turned out to be defective. The one that replaced THAT one is working just fine!

I was able to successfully upgrade my OS. Unfortunately, it did not fix my problem. I am still finding it frozen every morning and at least one other time per day. Seaduck79, is there an age limit to be able to get a replacement device?

Mine was still under warranty. You will have to see what your carrier will do for you.

Maybe it's just a snow Storm or an ice Storm?
