Default HELP!!! My Bold HOSED during 162 update!!!

Please Login to Remove!

CRAP!!! Please help! I was updating to .162 and right in the middle I got an "upable to connect during multi functional operation" - and then the update just stopped!!! Help! I tried to reconnect but no luck. I then pulled the battery and nothing comes back up! The red light just flashes slowly twice - then stops....then flashes twice again!

Anyone?? Freaking out here! Thanks!

First... don't freak out. Second... give people a few minutes to catch this Thread, and someone will be able to help you through this. I would help, but I (knock on wood) have never had something like this happen.

First wipe your bold using JL_CMDR then connect to DTM again and manually select to upgrade to 162.

carsmovies is correct. wipe your BOLD via JL_CMDR and try to re-install the OS. There are easy to follow steps, especially on crackberry. I hope I'm not violating any rules here, but just wanna help the dude out. There's:

1. How to wipe your device with JL_CMDR
2. How to recover a nuked berry, etc.

There area many threads that can help you out. Just relax & be patient. I know you must be going through a difficult time right now. Take a step back and do some research. If you can't find much here, crackberry has an extensive collection of how to's. All is not lost. I bid all the best to you. Please keep us posted on your works. At least it'll be documented and it can potentially help out other's that encounter such issues in the future.

Thanks to everyone. I passed out last night (exhausted from a weekend of travel) and I'm going to take everyone's advice and get this fixed ASAP this morning. Appreciate the links! I will post back soon.

Try installing the OS without your simcard...you might have an "old simcard" that doesn't support that multistage load.

to connect to your phone at the moment...try starting up just the APPLOADER program without starting desktop manager first.

good luck!

There may be other things that will help you in BlackBerry forums sister site, BlackBerryFAQ: BlackBerry FAQ - BlackBerryFAQ.

For next time, maybe.

OK - now I have a slightly different problem. I have the Bold back up and running with my 2 BIS accounts (haven't activated BES yet) - but the thing is running VERY sluggish. It takes 5 or 6 seconds to do something after I move the track ball. I have rebooted twice - even tried reloading the 4.6 core apps from DM (worked fine) - and still the same thing.

Any thoughts?

Go into your media and see if it's scanning your mem card. That sometimes takes a while after a reboot and slows the device down considerably.

Default Bold will not reconnect in Apploader

Hi,

I also have a non-functional Bold - all I am getting is 4 x red LED flashes repeated.
I have followed all the advice here and am able to connect to the Bold and run Apploader which completes the first 'Load JVM and system s/w' part of reinstalling the OS.
However, the 'Wait for device initialisation' doeas not complete and I get the following error:

LED flashing red x 4
Unable to complete the loading operation.
Unable to reconnect to the device during a multi-stage load operation.

Any advice gratefully received!

Thanks.

I have tried that but the JL_cmdr seemingly cannot connect the BB. When I select wipe and Yes and blackberry it goes to the red screen but then errors and returns to the menu - tried numerous times and on different PC's.

About to return it unless anyone has a brilliant idea....

Wow! Mad props to all those here at BBF who contributed to this thread. I'll admit, I'm no newbie when it comes to BBs and am well versed with JL_CMDR, but I didn't know about using the loader application with the 'nojvm' argument. I had a completely dead Bold for 3 hours tonight and was fiddling with everything hoping to get it working. in The end all it took was a trip here to get updated and I literally had my BB up and running in 15 minutes. Thanks all!
