The Zen theme is always slower at first, at least the first time through the apps. I've noticed it with each os upgrade on my 8700 and definitely noticed it yesterday when I loaded the zen theme on to my 7100g. Once you go through and open each app if you will use the end button and not the back button to close the app, your device will operate much faster. Or at least that has been my experience.

Also seems that the app switcher icons "movement" which visually tells you what app you have scrolled to in order to select only is working on BB apps and not 3rd parties like in the previous version...this is also an annoying "miss" by the developers....beginning to think this might have been "rushed" to market with the text miss on the apps with the Zen theme and then this....

Wow! What a great improvement! I'm actually going to use the Vodafone theme over the Zen theme for awhile. The new vodafone theme is awesome!

The improvements on the Zen theme (home screen app icons, organize icons, etc.) are superb...

A worthy upgrade!

I am guessing the new OS is not available yet for the 8700C at least not yet. Looking forward to getting this on my BB when it becomes available. Sounds promising, and like what I have seen and read so far

You can safely run software "made for" the 8700g on an 8700c.

It is only slow when you have 3rd party applications setup on the main screen. I also noticed that, before, when I still have the .284 version from T-Mobile, the 3rd party software icons inside the Menu screen are overlapping as most of them are not made for the Zen theme, but in this version, it is fixed! This handheld upgrade is really worth getting.

Try a fresh download of the OS. Make sure you used the right alx file, and give it another go. Have not seen anyone else report this.

Yes, I installed in on an 8700r.

As always, make sure you backup your data before doing it. I did run into a problem when upgrading and had to manually restore my data.

Are there any special instructions for downloading and installing this upgrade as there were for the Bharti upgrade? I recall that someone (Seattle??) posted step by step instructions, which were helpful for those of us less comfortable playing around with the OS on our own.

OK, well that did not work. I downloaded the telstra OS from RIM and ran it's set up. When completed I went to desktop manager and selected application loader and it sees no new applications to load. So I am guessing it does not see the telstra OS? Again wondering if it is becuase it is for the 8700R not the 8700C?

OK - from the top (again):

1) Download the handheld OS
2) Execute (install) the downloaded file
3) Delete "Vendor.XML" on your PCs C: drive
4) Restart Desktop Manager

I'm sorry - - did I miss the post with these instructions?
And this is it? It seemed much more involved with Bharti. At what point should
the BB be connected to the computer?
And will I have to go through enterprise activation again, as I had to do with Bharti?

That's how you load a new operating system.
I don't know what you did to load the operating system referred to as "Bharti".

I did not have to rerun EA when I upgraded to this version of the operating system.
