Default 8700 Freezing

Please Login to Remove!

for 2 consecutive days on my way to work, in almost the same place, my 8700 has frozen. the arrow on the top right indicating data transmission freezes, and remains visible in the Cingular Wireless goodbye page. (it won't turn off though - have to do a soft reset) i can still utilize all of the other apps, but phone calls fail, and i can't send emails. reset seems to be the only remedy.

tech support said it's not the network, and i may have a bad device.

anyone else experience anything similiar? thoughts?

please download the blackberry 8700 software via this link
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...E4F82F9F00E7D4
while downloading go to the app loader and choose advance, then select select both options(erase data and erase apps), after that, the device will restart, disconnect the device and wait for the download, after downloading, install the 8700c software in your computer, the reconnect the devicec and it will automatically ask you to install the os software..please let me know the progress, i'll be watching

Do they exchange them at stores now since they are getting them in-stock?

I am having the same 'lock up' situation from home where, unfortunately, cingular's service is very poor - only 1 bar. As chpong says, all aps work except phone & browsing. I'm assuming this is partially due to the Edge network as I never had this problem with 7290 or 7100g. I used to forward my cell to my home-office phone until I realized that cingualr charged 5 cents a minute for all minutes, regardless of the plan you were on.

Same issue here, although this has happened only once so far I had laid it right next to a USB hub which may have had adverse effects. I am gonna keep it away from that area and still see if it happens.

I've replaced 3 8700's due to this issue. Seems that when the device goes through a weak signal area it tries to hold the signal and ends up locking the device.

Also, I am running the latest software. I've also placed a call with RIM and this is a recognized issue that should be fixed in a later release.
