Thanks to everyone for the info...I changed both of my BBerry's over the the $29.99 plan>>>I tried it a couple months ago when I first read the thread and ran into an uninformed rep and gave up today I called and again got someone uninformed but she was patient and I knew what I was asking for so she researched and happily obliged...

I was on VZW and just switched to Sprint becuase of the $30/mo plan. it gives me unlimited email, web, txt msgs, and gps navigation. How does that compare with the VZW plan? Wondering if I should switch back. still have 3 weeks. I do not need BES, its for my wife.

text messages and gps is not included with vzw. You would have to pay extra for those.

Default Quick question...

I've got a family plan w/ 2 Moto Razr's...I'm eligible for a New Every 2 next week and am planning on a BB 8130 from VZW. I've got the $15.00 VCast plan on my Razr (the primary phone on the account). Theoretically, I should be able to dump the VCast plan, get the BB and add the $29.99 'unlimited' BB plan and be good to go...is that correct? And will I need to argue with CSR's until I get someone that know's what's going on? I'd like to do this (mostly) online based on the current pricing for the BB 8130 on VZW ($299 - $100 online discount - $50.00 mail-in rebate - $100 New Every 2 = $50.00 my cost). Thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Respectfully,

Bobby G.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

I am in agreement with everything you said except the final price. I am not sure you will get every discount.

Get the discount and REBATES in writing from the store manager. I recently had a hassle over the $100 rebate - supposedly, it was NOT TO BE COMBINED with other offers. Verizon Rebate center rejected it. The store told me I was not eligible BUT they also indicated that the Rebate Form should not have been issued or printed out. The manager offered me the $100 off my bill - it was a wash but watch out for "tentative" rebates. I did appreciate what the shop did but I was a bit upset in dealing with it.

holy crap... glad I saw this thread :(.

I just called them and had them change me. I also asked to be compensated for this "change" because I did not know about it. I said, "I heard this went into effect in November"

I got: "No this isn't that old, let me check.... oh sir you're right it has been since November. What I can do is compensate you for the last two months"

I know if I pushed it I could get it back since November, but I am just happy as hell it's $15 cheaper... I pay $180 a damn month right now (I didnt list the other two phone lines associated with the account). So the -$15 will be nice.

Thanks a ton haha.

p.s. She did try the "I don't think this will work for the America Choice plan..." Or whatever it's supposed to not work on.

Default Just talked to VZW CSR...

I know this is the 8800 Series Discussion and I'm posting about purchasing a Pearl but I got started here, so...

Here's what I was told...

The current VZW online promotion says the following:

$299 (phone price)
-$100 online discount
-$50 mail in rebate

Which places the Pearl at $149 to me. With a New Every 2 discount of $100, the price to me (in my mind) ends up being $49. The CSR told me the $100 "Online Discount" is for getting a BB "Unlimited Plan". I would get a mail-in rebate when the BB is delivered, and my New Every 2 would be valid and applied. That leaves the BB at $49 to me (again, in my mind). And no, I didn't get the rebates in writing and no, I don't think I'll ever get to the (very nice and helpful) CSR again. I'm planning to do this transaction online (and hoping for the best).

The $29.99 unlimited BB Data Plan (for personal use - i.e. not BES) was confirmed by same CSR (herself a BB 8830 owner and recent purchaser of an 8130 for her sister). Other question/statement I have for VZW folks here...is it true that an "unlimited voice/data plan" (i.e. the $129.99 BB plan) cannot be shared with an additional phone? I was told that that was not possible.

Sorry for long post. Thanks much in advance.

v/r

BobbyG:

I would NOT do it online. I would go to a store and, at least, make sure that a SECOND OFFICIAL RECEIPT IS PRINTED for the REBATE. Or see if you can find the REBATE form. When I got the rejection postcard I was told when I called the REBATE center that "it canNOT be combined with any other offer!" I was also told that at the official Verizon store where I purchased when I went to politely RAISE A STINK. That's when the manager intervened and offered me a billing reduction equalling the rebate amount (then $100. on the 8830).

See, it can be used with other offers, because I got mine, and had the "Advanced device" rebate of $100. Never had a problem.

The rep in the store did the same thing to me. But one quick PIN to Demon here on this board and I am now using the $30.00 a month unlimited web and email plan. YOu have to make sure you are not using BES for your email. If not, you can switch too. PIN Demon. He's great!

I am not sure about all of the details on this, but here is my plan pricing information:

Charges
Monthly Access Charges
Current Calling Plan 04/02 - 05/01 129.99
WPP Insurance - Asurion 04/02 - 05/01 4.99
Ringback Tones $0.99 - 04/02 - 05/01 .99
Broadband Connect Unl Data - 04/02 - 05/01 15.00
Unl IN 500 MSG Non-Camera $10 - 04/02 - 05/01 10.00
$160.97

This is the new unlimited voice plan with Blackberry including BES. This would only be $5.00 more than your plan and unlimited minutes. Not sure why my insurance is less, but hey, I guess I can't complain!

I pay for 3 cell phones thats why I have to stick to the family plan. Your calling plan is about $50 higher than mine, yet your data is half the price :(

The insurance on loss or damage is $4.99. The extra $1.00 that some of us pay is for the "extended warranty." I am not sure what is the precise difference, but it seems that since you're paying only for loss/damage coverage, if your phone stops working after the warranty period, you may have to drop it onto a hard floor in order to make a claim.
