Default There is a VoIP Client for Blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

It does exist and its made by Nortel,
Nortel Mobile Voice Client 2050 for Blackberry

Now the great thing about this piece of software is it runs through your Data package, not 802.11x, so as long as you have an unlimited data package you don't need the voice minutes.

We've had a couple of different vendors try and sell it to us but we are waiting for a next year budget for the purchase

So then would it be a VoDP (Voice over Data Package) client?

I think dynoplex is also developing a voip software.
I have efile on my blackberry and can see "voip call" option from address book.

I can't find any info on this on Nortel's site. They only have the client for Windows mobile device.

cant find any info on it.
link anyone?

What I would love is Skype for BB.

That would kill any need for a voice plan on the BB

You sure this isn't the Nortel client for the BlackBerry 7270 only (soon to be an 8770 as well)?

Thumbs up BBCalls

It is not VoIP but provides web activated telephony. So you are just initiating the call over the internet but the call itself works like a normal one. So after you initated the call from your BlackBerry with BBCalls, your phone rings, you pick it up and the phone of your contact rings, he/she/it picks it up too and you will be connected

BBCalls is free for use. Please take a look at that

how is it "free" when u are using ur minutes?

i considered something free when it uses with ur data plan instead of ur voice plan. it would be great just to pay the data w/o the voice plan and go with skype or some other voip company where u pay a very low rate to make phone call demostically or internationally.

whoever can make this software for not only blackberry devices which include all the cell phones out there that can get data will become a very rich man.

i guarantee u that.
