Default Vanishing email since I activated 8800

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, I'm new to the site. Seems to be some great info here. I activated my 8800 about two weeks ago. Since then the email on my personal email account has been disappearing. So far no help from comcast.com. It seems coincident with linking my bb to comcast. Even when I delete that account on my bb it still disappears, but, I have to believe it has something to do with the original link. I think I overlooked the question about deleting email when getting it from my comcast account, but, I don't know how to get back to that point. If I add a new account after deleting, it doesn't ask the question again. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

When seting up your BB BIS account, there is no questions about deleting email.

That setting/option is available in Outlook. You can tell it to leaves messages on the server. Are you using Outlook?

No, I use internet explorer to access my comcast email. I wasn't sure I saw the question. Seemed like the question was asked the first time and I just "nexted" through it. My comcast account will receive email, but as soon as I read it, it disapears. Nothing on the comcast acct seems to be doing it. Their help desk has been working on it for a couple of days to no avail. It sure seems like it's something that happened when I linked up with the bb.

Well, ok, but there is not a setting on the BlackBerry or the BIS to leave or delete mail on your email server.

Likely, in your browser, you have a setting to hide read mail. it may not be deleted, just hidden or not showing after being read.

Thanks, That's some good info. I notice that I don't even have to read it, for it to vanish. All I have to do is open the in box and log off and back on again. It's very strange and it started exactly when I first linked up my 8800. I had an earlier version bb that worked fine.

When I access my email account using a web browser, the ISP considers the mail to be downloaded, and deletes the mail. Because of that, I had always been careful to never use a web browser to check my email when I am out of town (while in town, I use Outlook and retrieve it to the desktop client).

That was partly my reason for getting a BB in the first place.

From your description, it sounds like you are accessing your email via browser too. Unlike Yahoo and gmail, etc. which are also accessed by browser but don't delete your mail as soon as you log out, I think comcast, like my ISP, handles web based mail access the same way.

Thanks for all the suggestions. As of this morning, I think comcast has fixed it. So far email isn't vanishing on comcast acct and is being successfully forwarded to bb. I can check my email on comcast again with my laptop via the browser and the bb. All is well again. They must have done something as I had to reset my password on comcast this morning. It would not recognize my previous one. Thanks again for all the help.
