I started using a skin with the tour because I liked the nice grip is gives with the device. However, the fit with the stock case was very tight. I had an Aftermarket horizontal pouch I used with my 8700, but it wouldn't auto shut off.
Found that the RIM Blackberry Koskin Swivel case for the 9000 Bold works very nicely for a tour with skin. After a day of break-in (it is all leather, no elastic on the sides) my Tour + skin slide in and out with ease. It is a perfect fit, like they were designed to work together. The magnets also line up and auto-off works again for much improved battery life.
Just wanted to share if anyone else wanted a case that works with a skin (I am using Blackberry branded skin for the Tour)
Impact or Defender? The Impact was not yet available when I go my skin case. An otterbox impact may still fit in the koskin swivel case. I may look into getting the Impact case.
I don't like the keyboard membrane on the defender, and it is a little too bulkty for my taste. I do like the traditional swivel clip case that comes with it. The unit on the web site looks like the magnet is in the wrong location for auto shut off. I assume it is correct on the production version.
Seido usually makes good stuff. I'm not sure, but I think my wife might have the Innocase for her iphone 3GS.
I like the looks of the Innocase. Not available yet, though, for the tour.
I did not get the skin for 'ultimate protection'. The tour is just a little slick and I wanted it to stick in place on the car console and have a little better grip.
The main point of my post was if you get a skin, the fit in the standard swivel case is way too tight. It was near impossible to get the phone in and out of the case while on the hip. I had a layover in Atlanta and went to the Blackberry store (Terminal B?) and went case hunting. Looked at all of the different options (they didn't have otterbox for the tour in stock yet) and Brandon (store employee) said he had a skin on his Curve and used the Koskin case.
The case does a good job of accomodating the extra thickness of the silicon skin, and the silk-like lining of the case keeps the silicon from sticking while removing/inserting the phone. In addition to that it has the magnet in the correct spot for auto sleeping the phone, and if you go with a third party with no magnet that one little difference makes a huge difference in battery life.
Jimn367, I have the RIM skin and have the same problem with it fitting in the original Tour swivel holster. I looked up the holster that you mention and it looks like the flap is longer than the original which makes me wonder if the magnet will work. Here's the link for what I think that you're using. Am I correct?
personally dislike the silicone cases because they trap a lot of pocket dirt/lint and its almost impossible to take the phone out of your pocket because it grabs the lining of your pocket so much.
I to have the rubber protector around my tour, and like everyone else its a pain to get in and out of the factory case. I am also looking for a different case.

That looks exactly like what I bought (I paid more at a Blackberry store in the Atlanta airport). There are two large magnets, One sewn in the flap, and one sewn in the case. The auto-off function works fine. The magnets line up over the lower part of the screen/trackball area.
where can i get a real nice case for my curve? any suggestions i have tried a case, and a skin and i dislike them both...i went back to the bb pouch they give you... any suggestions will help
