Default Global Search

Please Login to Remove!

My global search appears to be broken or turned off somehow. I used to be able to type something and it would search globally. Now, it either does nothing, or sometimes only searches through my contacts (but not always). This is highly annoying. I made absolutely no changes to the phone. Please help. Thank you.

Yes. I am just about to reload the OS, but would really prefer not too. I would actually prefer to just go get a new phone than that. Unfortunately, I refuse to pay the prices they are now asking for phones. Seriously?!!! WTF?!!! Since when did phones have to be mortgaged?!!! For real?!!! Like I am going to pay $600 for a $5 phone! I can get a fu*king iPad for the price of a phone. I can get a netbook AND a digital camera for that price. Have people lost their minds?

I think aiharkness is referring to this >> 1st step to take if device is having problems? - BlackBerryFAQ

I was. But I don't think reloading the OS is all that painful, either.

Well, I said "Yes" to the hard reset AND I am about to reload the OS" -- because the hard reset didn't work. It is not difficult to reinstall the OS for sure, but I have better things to do with my time than reload a phone's OS. No offense to you guys of course. Thank you for your input. Any other ideas are appreciated. I think it is time to just get a new phone... The latest BB... Yeah!

I expected the hard reset would correct the problem.

Before you do anything else, try another hard reset, but wait a couple of minutes instead of the usual 30 seconds. I don't know why, but sometimes the second or third does the trick, and sometimes a longer amount of time makes a difference.

If that doesn't work, I would try a security wipe before an OS reload. After the security wipe, try the umiversal search before you do anything else. If it works, then its your guess what to do next. You could risk a full restore, or else just restore select data like contacts and calendar or whatever, and then manually configure all the settings and options. The risk is you restore a corrupt database and end up back where you are now, assuming the problem is data.

If it isn't a data problem but a problem with the app, then the best course of action, I think, is reloading the OS.

Thanks. The "extended" hard reset didn't do the trick unfortunately. I really don't know if I can afford to spend the time restoring or reinstalling, so I really hope the security wipe works. Thank you.
