For some reason I have a 9900 that besides the splash-screens also has the wallpaper branded to the carrier.

Usually a factory reset defaults to a generic preloaded wallpaper.

Is there a way to have the default wallpaper be a generic wallpaper and not a branded one?

I recall being able to play with .cods and remove themes and wallpapers easily, but I tried removing a bunch of medialoader cods with no luck, e.g.:

net_rim_bb_medialoader_toolkit_640x480_01 and 02 and 03 and 04
net_rim_bb_medialoader_backgrounds_640x480_02a_t
net_rim_bb_medialoader_backgrounds_640x480_02b_t

the carrier in question (TIM Italy) does not have a specific theme (such as tmo does net_rim_theme_tmobile_BlackBerry7_640x480_b for instance)

I am thinking perhpas removing net_rim_theme_BlackBerry7_640x480_b or net_rim_theme_BlackBerry7_640x480_bs1 will help, but I am not sure.

Any idea? I could not find a definitive solution to this online.

Download a Theme you want and leave the one the carrier put in the OS. Sometimes deleting the pre loaded basic Apps cause issues. Not worth the trouble.

Don't remove it, but you should be able to comment it out of the blackberry.alx file.

Suggestions on how to make go away (it seems from the guide that deleting acually makes the theme appear)? My guess is that I can probably fool the OS to think that. say, the TMobile theme is the default one.

I have been playing around with the alx file and there is no trace of TIM Italy (Vendor ID 115 or 0x73 anywhere). I have tried to assign 115 to a bunch of themes available filesets (eg. Tmobile or other random ones), but no dice even after factory reset, clean installs and the like.

It seems at the wallpaper is hardcoded with the splashscreen...weird...

Suggestions?

Yeah, that's what I was referring too... Things must have changed since those days when I could just chop up my ALX and get O2's awesome theme instead of T-Mobile's ugly one. I figured removing themes that way would work too. :(
