I currently use a 7520 and have had it since it became available.. Owned an 8100 from T-Mo and an 8703e from sprint. Various reasons I couldn't make them my everyday phone.

Anyways, I have had a 7100i at my disposal since they came out but couldn't use it as my daily phone because of the numerous problems the firmware had with it. So now with this update I think I may give it a shot and just see how it does.

Also, for the people that are having trouble with their upgrades and such and need to wipe the device.... Downloading that big software developer kit just to get the javaloader.exe program is kind of silly so I did some hunting around and found it posted on a site inside of a .ZIP file with a few other files.. Anyway, here's the link that you can grab javaloader.exe out of so you don't need the rest of the hassle.

http://support.notify.net/downloads/eventlog.zip

I have done a complete wipe of a previously very stable 7100i so I'm crossing my fingers in how it performs..... At any rate this is just to tide me over until the 8800 launches, then I flock to that device and GSM.....

Does one have to do the whole software upgrade, meaninng have to do the desktop software or can one just upgrade phone only and do wireless updates. Last time I synced my phone to laptop via desktop manager I lost lots of my 7100i phones functionality, like replying to eamils, and other things mentioned in this string. I just want to be able to get themes and be able to do .wav ringtones.

Could some one post their font settings after the update? I noticed a difference after I updated but then I tried a theme and they got changed and I don't remember them to set them back.

Thanks,
Dave

Does anyone have upgraded their software on a 7100i?
I downloaded the DM and the app loader would not work, but I did not upgrade the phone software.
I backup my phone frequently but I am afraid it will cause problems.
Has anyone has had any experience with this?
Thanks.

is this the new look after the upgrade? Does it change the OS llook? I found a "almost new" 7100 on ebay and this is what they show. I asked the guy if he upgrade the os and he doesn't know he is selling it for a friend.

The upgrade does not change the look of the OS. The picture of that phone shows the "Smoothie" theme available from Blackberry. Hope this helps!

Man im late!! Looks like people did this upgrade almost a year ago. Love the new look of this phone now though. I read this entire forum and it answered all my questions so i didnt have to ask any. (somthing people should do more often). Now i can hold off on a new one about another year if the phone last that long!! lol!

A berry411 (beyond 411) OTA upgrade put my bb7100 into an endless Java 102 error/boot loop. I had been using 4.1 (376) for quite a while with Zen and Today themes working just fine. I was forced to do a wipe and restore which worked fine... had to do the ota stuff over, but was no big deal. Now however, i have no zen or today themes! Dimension icon and the default Insight were it. I have confirmed that I still have the latest version 4.1.0.376 installed. Can anyone shed any light?-- or better yet, a way to get Zen/today working again?
