Has anyone tried using one of those emergency chargers that runs off a AA battery with their BB? Can you actually get a full charge from a drained battery on one? It sounds like a nice thing to have in the camping gear.

Diehard campers would be ashamed of you... Bringing your BB camping. Luckily I've never been a "real" camper either, my BB as well as my mp3 player, laptop and tv (if possible) would be right by my side.

But to answer your question, I myself haven't used one however my roommate use one once and said it was awful. Didn't charge very fast at all. A whole day to do 3/4 a charge.

Eh, I feel justified bringing a cell phone along as it's a safety issue. And yes, I bring it even when I do "real" hardcore backpacking in the backcountry. What prompted this question was an incident a few weeks back when I was notified of a family emergency while sitting in my tent, and was worried that my battery wan't going to hold out while I booked plane tickets to fly home.
