years....
there have been few rumours about this device, and i believe this was mentioned before the Tour rumours and the Tour is coming out soon.
I really wouldn't hold out for a phone that likely doesnt exist yet.

Magnum sounds hot. But, the Bold 2 being a touch screen is just a rumor, no pictures yet, just speculated specs of the phone. If its true, I will buy it full retail price.

It's still a proper blackberry with a keyboard though even if it does also have a touchscreen.

I've posted this a while ago when it happened. My friend who worked at Rogers (recently changed jobs) was at a Cellular Road Show. RIM was there showing off a touch-screen Bold. Both him and I have the Bold and we're obsessed so he BBM'd me while he was looking at it. Predicted launch date at that time was for September of this year. Of course things can change in the blink of an eye but all I know is that they had it far along enough that they were showing it off at that event. Just sayin'.

I'm still excited to be in the loop about the Magnum because of this awesome site though! So it's all guud for me!

I do hope it's in the works and hope we can snag a sneak peek at some sort of leaked image or something of the sorts. Gosh I love rim!

OK, I would like to revive this threat. I hear/read that the so called Magnum is now code named Dakota and actually is similar size as the BOLD and has a touch screen. Any more information on this? I am going to get the 9700, but am not so sure about the small size. I have tried the 8900, but it was a bit underpowered and too flimsy. I hated the keyboard moving around and the battery cover not being secure. I am not sure I need a touch screen BlackBerry, but I do love the keyboard size of the 9000 Bold and the bigger screen helps these ailing eyes of mine.

Joining this thread, and looking for further developments on the "Magnum" or "Dakota" as referenced above. I agree with Dan, while I love the new 9700, it's form size and specifically the keys might be just too small for me. I really prefer the Curve keyboard with it's raised keys, and also the Bold keyboard as well with its size form (plus the larger screen). I might get a Curve 2 to hold me over if my 8310 starts to spudder. It currently works fine, a real horse, just getting more and more banged up as time goes by. I should get (and will) the newest OS.

Will their be an in between decision to bring out another Bold with a track pad? That would be of great interest to me as well. Not really sure if a touch screen is what I would want at all.

Caught a couple of blurry pictures of it, now not positive they are real pictures, but the concept of it made me want it terribly back. haha
I hope that this blink of an eye is a turn for the better and it is released later this year (not much left I know) or sometime early next year.

That picture has been floating around for months, if not a year.

Yup, but if the concept is anything like this picture, I'd VERY interested, only concern would be the screen being a tad small for a touchscreen.

lol, true.

I think it's a faked picture anyway. That picture has always been in question.

Photoshop is everyone's best friend. haha
I assumed it was fake from the moment I saw it, what's up with the blur?
It was taken with a white backdrop with what I would assume a high end camera and simply manipulated and blurred to look like a 'leak' the rest is up to our imagination.

Funny how this is the ONLY picture I'm able to find too, it's floating around everywhere!

Rim did apply for a couple of patents on slider designs and one of those was a vertical one like the Pre, but there hasn't been any rumours about a design in that form factor yet.

It does seem likely that rim will steadily increase their range of form factors to give people more choices as it's been a long time since they had the attitude that one device had to suit everybody.

Is the Magnum expected to be like the Palm Pixi (sprint)? Just saw an ad for it, and then looked up on the net. Pretty cool: qwerty keyboard and touch screen together.

There's been no definite details about the magnum, but you would have to assume that something along the lines of the pixi would be one of the options they would consider for combining physical qwerty and touchscreen since it would be less of a shift for them than slider-style form factors.
