Question New user with 3 questions :)

Please Login to Remove!

Hi! I hope that someone can help me.. First off, I would like to learn how to type the swedish characters , and in my Blackberry. I live in Sweden and bought my Blackberry unlocked on Ebay, everything is working except internet/WAP. My provider cannot send the settings to my phone because Blackberry phones are unusual here so they can only tell me what settings to enter manually. The problem is, where do I enter these settings? And my final question, what is the "Radio On/Off" button for? I always have a message on my homescreen saying "Data connection refused".

Thanks

Kind regards,

Madeleine

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Data connection refused means you do not have a Blackberry data plan!

Radio on/off allows you to turn wireless service on your device off without powering it off! Comes in handy on airplanes you can still use programs and compose email when you get off of plane turm wireless on and bamm your emails get sent

Which settings are you referring to?

If your provider doesn't offer a BB dataplan, there isn't much you can do with the BB, other than use it as a phone. No BB dataplan means no Internet and no email. There are some who have managed to get Opera Mini to work, but you need the carrier settings to do that I think. I don't use it, so I am not the expert on it.

Not necessarily true. There is a way to do it from what I have heard, but it uses minutes vice data. Very limited in what you can do as well.

Not true; you can set the information for the APN under Options / Advanced / TCP (assuming the data is known for your carrier) and Opera Mini will work.

The top of the screen will still show Data Connection Refused.

Thanks! I've managed to get GPRS going with Opera mini by adding the settings in the APN that you mentioned But if I understand this correct, I will not be able to use the Browser because I do not have a Blackberry plan? Cause I prefer WAP instead of GPRS.

Does anyone have any idea on how to get the swedish language to work?

I've received that advice before, sounds great but how do I do that? Do I have to download a language file? Where if so?

Download and install Desktop Manager if you have not already done so. Grab and read the instructions at the top of this forum on grabbing the latest Handheld Software. I have not installed it myself so I don't know if there is any sweedish support in it.
