I'm trying to add an existing email address. However, when I choose [gmail] account and then enter the email addrss & password, it give me an error that reads "unable to setup [my email address]. please try again".

The email address I am trying to setup is one that i recently changed passwords for and for then I stopped receiving the emails to my BB and it told me to "validate" the email address. I did so but it refused the info i entered. I tried deleting the account altogether from my BB and then adding it again, and thats how I came into this problem. Please help??

If you are 100% sure you aren't making some mistake, I would wait an hour or two and try again.

Do you have other BIS email, and has it been working with no problem? I'm thinking of the BIS issue in the past day or two and wondering if that is effecting you in this regard.

After some research, I found this link to work for me.

Go to https://www.google.com/accounts/DisplayUnlockCaptcha and "unlock" per their instructions.

This allowed me to log in through my BB and added the account.
