I'm going to take a guess that you didn't score real high on reading comprehension on the SAT. Anyway, even without the SMS notification working, I would gladly purchase BB Alerts again for what it DOES offer. The main point of my earlier "rant" was aimed at RIM - why they don't include more comprehensive alerts functions as part of the stock OS escapes me. That was my point....

I wish they had a popcorn smiley here
I love the program as well, probably the one I think is the most useful on my blackberry other than Cryptmagic now. I think the lack of updates is semi disappointing but still it's an amazing program. The SMS function has not worked since I purchased the program 6+ months ago, but I don't get that many SMS anyways. To those that do a lot of texting, I guess it would be kind of annoying. No reason for attacking each other..

I've been using bbAlerts for over 6 months. It is by far my most useful and stable App and it works (even for SMS) for me (8310). I personally think BBel should charge more for it . Great App.

1.49 seems to be the version handango, and I don't know what to do with a .jad file... im a bb n00b.
I didn't sift through the 27 pages trying to find this out, so bear with me. I want an email from a specific sender to alert me, while I don't care about others. Can BB Alert do this?
I've gone through the various things on the bb and I don't see where I can be specific, only general.

you can install the jad file right through the browser on your BB...
http://bbymel.servebbs.com/latest/BlackBerryAlerts.jad
you can set specific alerts on the latest version(s), but def not on 1.49...
just type into your BB browser ("go to" in the browser menu), or email to yourself, the url above that ends in .jad, and the BB will more or less take care of the rest...
that is, as long as the bbymel site is up (it goes up and down frequently)

Thanks for the reply.
I got the latest version installed. I've set a filter, gave it a name, and entered an email address.
I seem to be getting alerts for any message when I only want to get an alert for anything from one sender.
thanks in advance

oddly, it seems to be working for me now. I will monitor it for a while. If this works, and only alerts on specific senders, as I need it to, I will be very pleased... and of course will gladly pay the registration fee

For those having trouble with SMS notifications, is your BB's firewall turned on? I wasn't getting SMS notifications until I turned the firewall off.

I agree and i remember when i suggested he made the pearls trackball to light up as a notification LED and he got it incorporated. I've been using it from the time the bb pearl was introduced from t-mobile. Great Application that will never die out, NEVER!!!!!! BBYmel is going to reach version 2.0.0 and above if need be, lol. I know he will always upgrade it as new devices and OS version surface.

You may be able to PM Bbymel for 1.6 if you have your heart set on that exact version, but for the most part, the last official version is 1.49/1.50 and the latest unofficial version is 1.65. Anything in between is only available if someone still happens to have it.

Version 1.65 is the latest, yes basically all that is available is 1.49 and 1.65
1.60, 1.61, 1.62, 1.63, 1.64 are replaced by 1.65 which seems to be working good for almost everyone except for people never getting sms notifications (CDMA only that I know of) and filters are not working quite perfectly. PM me if you are having issues please.
Some faster links for downloading:
Version 1.65 (Version 4.2.2 devices and higher only)

and
Version 1.49

I installed 1.65 on mine, no issues at all with the SMS. One note on that, if your testing the SMS by sending one to yourself, at least on mine it doesnt work. But with others sending SMS, all is fine. Just FYI

Hi BByMel,
I'm running 1.65 on my 8130 (CDMA) Pearl. Everything's working great except for notifications on calendar reminders. For some reason in the latest version it's behaving oddly. I have bbalerts set to use a profile, and in the profile I have it set to vibrate. In the bbalerts options I have a color specified for the calender reminder notification.
When a calendar reminder comes up, the led blinks the appropriate color, but there is no vibration. It will vibrate the next time around though (I have alert repeat frequency set to 2 minutes). So it will vibrate on the 2nd 2 minute cycle and subsequent cycles, but not the first one. Also, if I click the trackball when the led first starts blinking, the calendar reminder isn't even up yet. I think the calendar reminder is coming up on the 2nd time around (when the vibrate finally happens). It's as if the led alert is anticipating or suppressing the built-in calendar alert for the first two minutes.
My bb is running OS 4.3.0.97, which is the latest for this model.
SMS is working fine for me.
I will PM you as well but also wanted to post here in case anyone was having similar issues.
