Default Stay with Verizon?

Please Login to Remove!

I have been a Verizon customer for 8 years now. I never needed anything but a phone until recently, I am self employed and need to stay in touch by phone and email. My wife is also self employed and uses email all day everyday. So Blackberry is the choice for us. My question is do I stay with Verizon for the Curve (that is the model we want)? I can get ATT for a good deal, 15% off monthly bill and two curves for $75.00 each. But are they better than Verizon? I have never had a problem with verizon, but then again I have always had a basic phone/service. I like the video that the Verizon curve will have but that is not a make it or break it for us. Can I hear from anybody that has had both carriers for phone/blackberry? Which has been better?

It really comes down to coverage in your area, and if you have a lot of people you talk to on Verizon that are covered with IN calling. If you do, you may end up needing a plan with a lot more minutes if you switch. I do know that Verizon Wireless PDA/BlackBerry support is next to worthless (hence why I am here), but do not have any personal experiences with AT&T.

As far as if you want the Curve, or another model, that to is personal preference. Most networks now give you 30 days to change your mind about a device and switch to a different one, so maybe you should try it out, and if you don't like it, exchange it. I do believe you will pay more per Curve on VZW when they are released than the price you stated, so this too may be something to take into consideration

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

To echo what was said, it comes down to network and price. Support in my opinion is comparable among all of the companies for better or worse.

I thought about the same thing. I am going to stay. New curve with more memory and I don't want to give up the high speed internet. Also everybody know in on Verizon.

If and when the BB9000 comes to AT&T. Then it would be worth switching.

I've got a motto, if somethings good don't change it, you've never had a problem with VZW in 8 years I definitely would not leave.

As far as which BlackBerry model you want I would recommend visiting one of their kiosks and playing with each of them for a little while, although off the bat the Curve has more device memory.

I agree make sure you have coverage first. A device is great but if it doesnt get service then whats the use?

Coverage first...exactly. I have a Verizon cell phone and a TM 8320. I don't really care about being able to email someone in the middle of nowhere but if I'm broken down on the side of the road I want a cellphone that can make a call.

I always remember the old saying - if it ain't broke, don't fix it. If your current carrier has the coverage you need, when and where you need it, why change? It is definitely coverage above all else. Then device and price or vice versa.

I dropped Verizon years ago. They have the most expensive service and the worst phones.Look how long it took them to get a BB Curve.

I think they have great service and very good phones. And the curve is upgraded.

I have used both AT&T and Verizon. In my area, the coverage is pretty much the same. I made the change from Verizon to AT&T because most of my friends and family are on AT&T and therefore I could get a plan with less minutes and save money. Also, I travel internationally GSM is better for travel in Europe since you can buy a sim card from the carrier of the country you are traveling in. (provided you unlock your phone)

If you do not travel a lot internationally, most of your contacts are with Verizon, and you have not had problems, I would stay with them. As someone else said, if it isn't broke, why fix it.

I was in your same position recently. I was a long tiem Verizon user, 10 years with them. I live in Chicago so both Verizon and AT&T have great service here. I was tired of not being able to get the newest phones with Verizon and then on top of that Verizon would disable functionality of the phones and even put there Interface on the phone. I have been wanting a curve since it came out on AT&T 1 year ago. The plans on Verizon and AT&T are the same dollar wise, AT&T you get rollover.

About 1 week ago I got an AT&T phone with any old number on it. I have been using that phone every chance I get. The call quality was as good as verizon, the signal strengh was as good or better then verizon. The Curve is a great little phone, I love it.

Today I had my Verizon Number ported over to AT&T, the port took 20 minutes total to complete and everything went perfectly.

I am not sure where you live but go buy an AT&T phone. Try it for 30 days. If you like it port your number over to AT&T. A lot of people on this board gave me that same advice and after thinking about it for awhile I finally did it.

Hope that helps. Good Luck

Default TMO Curve with Hotspot@Home

Was a verizon user since the days of Cellular One and stuck with them through everything.

Moved to T-Mobile with the Pearl then changed to the Curve and Hotspot@Home service.

Best service overall I have had and @ $99.99 unlimited (inlcuding hotspot@home) I am quite satisfied.

I had T-Mobile for the past three years because they were the cheapest. Of course I had to go stand out in the street if I wanted reception. I just changed to AT&T and I can now sit in front of my TV on my sofa and BB all day long I guess I figured out that reception is #1 priority.

I have had both t-mobile and verizon as personal providers and my work uses sprint/nextel and I think it depends on where you live. Where I live (Massachusetts) t-mobile is fair, sprint/nextel is horrible and verizon is just outstanding. But like the rest of you verizon customers the cost is high and the phone selection lags behind the rest. But, the reception matters most for me and in the end it just comes down to what you want and how much your willing to pay.

I pay for what works. The device isn't as important to me. As long as it it fairly customizable I'm happy.
