Nutshell 8700 case
Please Login to Remove!
Anyone try a Tuff As Nuts "Nutshell" case for their 8700 yet?
I've always like their cases and didn't realize they had one for the 8700 already. Has the magnet too.
I'm ordering one right now.

Yes, but it's very strong, high quality Velcro.

Just checked out the site. Looks good BUT when trying to order, they don't ask if it's for an 8700 or, say, a 7290. They list a bunch of models.
How can that be? The sizes are different!

I was wondering the same thing when I placed my order. I'm guessing it's a universal size large enough to fit all the different BB sizes.
Will post more when I receive it.

I got http://store.bizshopr.com/spdmon0193.html this one, under $20, feels strudy, magnet works, my 8700 holds a charge for about 4 days just like with the plastic holster.
But, the Nutshell has an option of no-clip for $5 extra, bringing the price to $60, if it really was a good snug fit, it might work for in the pocket, but since it seems to be a universal fit like the one I have, I doubt it would fit much, if any, tighter.

I would think it would be a tight fit since the 8700 is large.
You pay more for high quality. Vaja cases are near $100.

I guess I am getting cheap in my old age, I wasn't real happy about paying $20+shipping, it came to about $26, no way I am paying $100 for just a case for a BB.

Honestly, I think it's pretty sharp, and I like all of the "options" from which I can choose to customize it (albeit for more dough with each selection). I've never seen that before in a holder.
However, after scoping it out this morning after reading this thread, I did not order one because the universal nature of this case worries me. Yeah, it's only .2 inches difference between the 8700 and my old 7290, but for that kinda money, I want to make sure it's something I'll be happy with for the life of my 8700, and I therefore gravitate toward stuff specifically made for my particular BB.
Thus, sorry lgreenberg, but you'll be my beta tester on this I look forward to your future real-world comments!

I just got the Gizmoskin today in the mail. It's taken the place of the OEM plastic holster. So far so good. The ratcheting clip feels secure on my belt, the magnetic flap works fine (a little tricky to unfasten one-handed when in the car), the leather seems good, the fit is a little loose (but the magnetic flap keeps the 8700 in there securely), the stitching is...not great (doesn't look like the highest quality, not always in a straight line or at right angles either.
It works but I don't think it was worth the $39.99 plus shipping I paid for it. I'll use it for now until better cases come out. If this thing lasts and takes the abuse I dish out, then I might just stick with it in the end.
Whoever said before that this case can be gotten from a competing Canadian company for $20 less is almost definitely right.

I've seen the pics on the gizmoskin website but would like to see a real live pic. Would you mind posting one of yours? I am curious to see what the stitching is like and where it's not straight. I am debating purchasing one but don't know if it's worth 39.95 USD + shipping for one or if I should buy something else or maybe even wait for an OEM one.

Like Nitty, I too would like to see an action pic of this case. Also, you mention a similar case from a competing Canadian company for $20 less. DO you have a link for this competitor by any chance?
I'm looking to buy a case in the next week and so far it looks like it's going to be the GizmoSkin case, however the deciding factor would be dependant on the action pics and any possible competitive price.
Thanks

I received word that my Nutshell case shipped today.
Hopefully I'll have it in a week or so (it's coming from New Zealand.)

Just curious if you've gotten the above mentioned case. Of all that I've seen, I like the nutshell the best as far as looks!
