For directions I've sought after, Google Maps is far more accurate than Berry 411, probably by a 2 to 1 margin. For example, Berry 411 puts my home within a two block radius of my office for some reason; they're 12 miles apart, and there is no street with a name even comparable to my home street within the downtown Charleston area. Not sure which engine Berry 411 uses for maps and directions.
Don't get me wrong: I use Berry 411 for other information and it's great, but not for maps and directions.

Thanks for the feedback. What engine does Berry 411 use? I'd like to try it online first to see how useful it is.
Also do people with 8700c and 4.0 and Cingular use them with no problem? I read on their web site that there are some errors.

I agree, Berry 411 is a great tool to have, there have been several occasions where this tool has come in handy.

I used to think the same, however, since I switched to my 8700c 5 months ago with EDGE I never use 411 anymore. Google local/maps is way better for my needs when I am trying to find a place/number/directions/reviews. |

The BIGGEST advantage of 411 is: It is easy to set-up and ALWAYS work --- Google stuff WON'T.
Well, 411 has other function: dic, google, that Google doesn't

Searching the yellow or white pages on 411 is by far one of the best reasons to get it. Google Maps wont allow you to look up residential phone numbers that I am aware of, however I believe they have implemented commercial numbers when looking up a specific location.
I have both apps and use both of them daily.

Yeah, I've found the yellow pages of 411 to be highly inaccurate. I have no idea how they rank their listings, but I search for Krispy Kreme, and I only get the Krispy Kreme locations on the 3rd or 4th page of results. I'm using Google Maps more and more since I recently got the 8700g w/ EDGE (which is a MUST...its painfully slow on my old 7100t on GPRS).

Google maps is all cosmetic. It's pretty cool but Berry 411 is all around a better application.

I agree with HIH, what makes 411 better is the ability to store Home, Work or common locations and/or you can pick addresses directly from your address book. With Google, if you mess up or enter an address not found you have to start with square 1. It also has the two step selection process which I don't dig too much.
I've lived in Denver for close to 40 years, so in this area I don't need a map, just a general idea of the area. 411 does great for that. I do agree maps are nice to have when traveling or hit the mountains which is something I don't do too often.
Google is new, this is the second release so I know they have bigger and better to come. |

I just installed the Berry 411 on 8700c on Cingular with OS4.1, and it works well, no errors so far. But I do not see the integration between Berry 411 and Address book.

411 gives you the added bonus of dictionary, reverse phone lookup, etc. Besides, I use TeleNav for my mapping/direction needs

Open any address in your addressbook then open up the menu. 411 will be at the top. Selecting that address will give you directions from your default address to that location. |

I openned an address in addressbook, and open the menu, the 411 is not showing in the list menu...

FWIW, I can't see that 411 functionality on my addresses either.
Been running the program for a month or so. Just upgraded to OS .371, reinstalled, rebooted, etc. Still nothing.
Not that big a deal, but if it's an option, it would be cool to have...
