8830 with corporate employee discount

Is it possible to get a 8830 from verizon for your personal account if you work for a corporation that has employee discounts? I get conflicting answers from 3 of the people I've spoken with.

If you're getting such diverse responses... perhaps it's best to simply ask Verizon Wireless.

I got mine and use it for work, but the VZW person only asked for me to confirm my employment to get the corporate discount. I could have then used the BB for my personal account if I had set up the email that way.

Ditto.
You should be talking to your business sales rep to get your corporate discounted pricing for your BB and your discount on your service and accessories. They can usually have your equipment shipped to you 2nd day air as well.
Calling in to the regular sales number can send you around the Mulberry bush more than a few times.

This is the way I see what happened with the initial 8830 ordering. Keep in mind that I have been obsessed with obtaining one since word came out.
1) I stayed up till 3:00 AM EST refreshing the BB ordering page online that night of the 14th. No joy.
2) I called that morning and they said that since I was not a corporate account I could not order until the 28th.
3) I kept reading these threads, and it seemed that people who did not have business accounts were able to order.
4) As a result, I attempted a few more times getting a different rep each time. Finally one of them proceeded to process the order without incident.
I really think that Verizon is either internally disorganized in the sales department, or that these telesales guys are on commission and don't mind letting some "regular folk" slip through the cracks so they can make an extra buck.
WRT to the pricing, I got really lucky and several discounts were applied so it ended up costing $99 plus tax and shipping so $117.

Is $117 the final cost after the mail in rebate?
Mine ended up being 217 with an extra 100 off (MIR). So my total is $117

Dunno about Verizon, but with Sprint/Nextel its different. Coorporations get discounts on their bill and equipment. A coorporate individual gets a bill discount, but no longer gets equipment discounts.
Now are you a COORPORATE or COORPORATE/INDIVIDUAL.
Coorporate IE - Pepsi Cola, Ford, GM, RIM, the actually company itself, and has 1000s of lines under their TAX ID. Basically a giant business account (coorporation).
Coorporate Individual IE - You just work for Pepsi Cola, Ford, GM etc etc. Your just an employee and have your phone line under your name/social but you get a discount for working for a coorporate.
Maybe that's why your getting mixed answers, you should state it clearly to the rep. They can be stupid sometimes.

True, that is probably the case. With VZW, you do get a corp discount on your equipment, plan and acccessories even if it is for personal use. At least you do with major accounts...dunno about others.

Exactly. The sales guy was stunned when he told me my final price. Said something like, "My friend, you are going to get one of the best deals I've on this thing." I definitley got lucky.

Wow that stinks. I work for a "smaller" Fortune company and we get discounts on equipment, accessories and service for personal accounts.
