Arrow basic image editor, resize, crop, etc ON DEVICE?

Please Login to Remove!

hello,
I searched and came up empty (was surprised by this)

is there no ON-DEVICE image editor for the bb that can read/write to the internal mem or sd card and do such simple things such as

view
resize (i.e. go from 1280x960 to 640x480)
crop

I just want a simple way to take a pic with the cam, crop a section, and quickly email it to a friend, etc. I'm somewhat amazed that a resize/crop feature is missing from RIM's built-in picture app.

any tips??

Wirelessly posted (8310; The Juggernaut)

Nope--not available. Good suggestion for a third party application developer, though, unless there is one already with I am not familiar.

Okay. At least I'm not crazy.
1) there is nothing out there
2) this is a good idea

so if anyone can find anything or if one of the guru's sees this and decides to whip something together that would be awesome!

well... there is an on device cropping tool used to crop for Photo Caller ID. It wouldnt be a stretch that the device can support what you want. And to resize, you would just have to adjust the quality of the image (to lower the number of pixels)

Wink Simple on-handset solution for crop/resize images

This is a bit chunky but it works. You can still take full resolution photos, crop and save for MMS.
You need to use the "Set as Caller ID" option for the photo. This allows you to 1) crop (rotate first if you want a landscape crop - and roteate back later), 2) zoom and 3) rotate images. Set the image as a caller ID to any phone numebr in the list.
From the phone book you can edit the entry - highlight the photo and save it back to the pnone or media card memeory.

And there you have a cropepd photo at a size ready for MMS all without having to compromise on the original photo quality or using a PC.

The whole process takes about 2 minutes but it works.

I would much rather have an option to crop and save as you are adding an image to the MMS in the first place.

Not to get anyone excited but Abode is releasing a PhotoShop Mobile tool to upload to their online photo site. Windows Mobile is first with BlackBerry to follow. On top of that there is a rumor that after initial release there will be an update that allows very basic editing. We can only hope.

One would think that this wouldn't be so hard to have an app that has some basic photo editing. The Symbian operating system has had this for 4 years.
