Latching onto someone who built their success slowly, with a dedicated membership, is like the Remora saying it's "competing" with the shark. Or the tick competing with the dog. Or the leech competing..... Well, you get the idea.

Hi All,
Just a quick note that this promotion is running at pretty much all MobiHand's major partner sites so if you've got something against Pinstack you can go to them too
eg: BBSmart giveaway this Thursday | BlackBerry Cool
Cheers,
eZainny

Today, 10:30 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Today Research In Motion announced that it will upgrade the features on its BlackBerry smartphones. Rather than receiving an entirely new platform, RIM will roll out the following software upgrades during the first half of the year. The inbox will get HTML and Rich Text support, so emails can be seen in their original format, including graphics, fonts, and colors. Users also will be able to search their remote email servers for old emails, see the availability of contacts prior to sending meeting invites, and use presence features to see when IM contacts are available for chats or phone calls. Lastly, RIM is adding Documents To Go from DataViz so users can download and edit Microsoft Office documents.

I wonder if this is why BBSmart is going to be free?

It would make a great deal of sense. Use a solid app, that is going to be pushed out of the market, to generate some sales of other apps.
That's just smart business.

BBSmart is so much a part of my Blackberry use, I forget what features are part of the OS and what came with the app. That is a sign of a great app.

I totally believe that BBSmart is "free" now to get what marketers call, a falling kick. Or at least that's how i've heard it! They know they won't sell anymore copies, so what they're going to do is offer this "24.99" piece of software for FREE when you buy anything else, so it sounds like a bargin, when in reality RIM is about to roll out with 4.3 with everything there already! So they're just trying to get what they can before it becomes useless. Honestly, I've used BBSmart, and I hated it! Worthless. Well, at least to me.

You must not have used it properly, I suspect, or had any need for it's functions, more likely.

I can tell you that the 4.3 rollout isn't going to be all you think it will be. Yes, html support will be available but not until BIS 2.5 comes out and for BES users it will require the BES be at v4.1.5. These mail viewers from BBSmart and Empower also do other things that 4.3 doesn't do. JSanders mentioned putting emails into tasks...Personally, I like these features as well.
Worthless, to you but valuable to others. Also, this thing about html coming out from RIM is not new. These developers knew about it a long time ago.
