I am new to the forum. I have an 8830 that I love except for the email. I downloaded the trial of BBSmart Email and set it up, but I stopped receiving emails on my device. I could send but not recieve on both accounts.

I am not on BES. Has anyone experience this? Is there something that causes this? I read through the PDF that was included with the download, but didn't see that in the troubleshooting section.

Any help would be appreciated. I'd really like to upgrade the email viewing.

If you remove BBSmart do the emails start coming back? If not then it is something else causing the issue.

Yes, when I removed the software I started to get emails again.

Odd, I have not seen that issue from BBSmart in the past.

I had installed pocket day as well, but removed both of them after finding the issue. Could it be that it was something in the set up? I want to try again, but don't want to loose email.

Is there a delay to receive email after installation?

No, as a matter of fact BBSmart does not even intercept your mail delivery, it ONLY activates when you open an email. At that point it kicks in and "reads" the email and images to render an HTML version of the email.

If I were you , I would try it again.

BTW great forums!! I have gotten the answer to so many questions already and managed to tether my 8830 to my Mac with bluetooth thanks to this forum.

Hi KimMazz,

Sorry to hear that. As others have mentioned the program doesn't actually play a role in retrieving or sending of emails, but rather acts as a plugin to change the way emails that are opened are displayed.

Having said that, sometimes weird problems do occur and I believe they are related to the way the BlackBerry handles third-party applications. Typically, performing a uninstall/re-install corrects the problem.
