Default Viewing picture messages on VZW 8830

Please Login to Remove!

My girlfiend sent me a picture message -- but all I got is a text message to go to www.vzwpix.com and login... which proved to be extremely cumbersome. There's got to be an easier way -- surely there has to be a way to simply view the image directly???

Thanks

Have her email the picture rather than send it as a MMS message.
It'll be easier, and cheaper for you.

I agree with penguin3107, a BlackBerry is a email device. You should use it's strengths and not a carriers weakness.

I agree with the guys above. Email is the blackberrys strength. Although I do enjoy being able to download the pictures to any computer with a internet connection.

Default uh huh

Well that'd be fine, if she had email capabilites on her cell phone -- I think we are more tech savvy than most. Most phones still don't have email, but I think most can take pics and send them as MMS's.

So we can't receive picture MMS's/text messages to BlackBerry's?

Have her send to your bb e-mail address instead of your 10 digit mobile number. Most carriers allow you to send MMS messages to e-mail addresses.

When I contacted Verizon about this issue, the short answer I got was "no, you can't."

Apparently, since this phone doesn't have a camera, Verizon doesn't think we need MMS capabilities. I hate this too.

AT&T has also decided that we don't need MMS capabilities on our BB's.
I can receive MMS messages just fine, but i am not able to download images.
There is an article somewhere saying that MMS on 8800 is impossible, no matter on the provider, but im not sure how true that is.

And no, i can not tell every person sending me (and its getting to be more and more people) to resend it to my email address.

The "RIM" BlackBerry 8830 has no problem handling pictures messages. It's simply a configuration on the part of your service provider.

When I moved from my LG camera phone to the BlackBerry, a representative at Verizon mistakenly left the picture messaging package on my plan/line. As a result, I could receive picture messages directly on my 8830 and view them perfectly without having to log into the vzwpix site. So yes, the BB8830 supports this natively.

However, after I realized that my BB8830 was causing me to send many more text messages because of the QWERTY keyboard, I called Verizon and asked them to move me to the unlimited messaging plan. As a result, they removed the coding on my account that allowed the picture messages to come through fine, and ever since, I now get a txt message telling me to go to vzwpix.com to get the image.

About a half dozen attempts to get it added back have failed. Just FYI .. but I can say with 100% confidence (because I saw it with my own eyes!) that the reason you cannot view the picture messages on the 8830 is because of some setup in the Verizon billing/account software on their end....

Well that is BS plain and simple. First they lock the GPS, now this. Very uncool. If anybody comes up with a solution please to post it and/or PM me.

Oh and Daves -- ha! It actually was one of those pics;)...

Just so you guys know how much BS Verizon is giving all of us! Check it out. Enabling / disabling the device firewall - BlackBerry 8830

But of course it wont work because they have us all locked out from being able to disable the feature.

Another thing that sucks you can not send a picture as a text to another phone. Like with most basic cheap camera phones you can take a picture and send it to another phone via text. With my 8130 its only email or bluetooth to send pictures from my phone.

i believe you have to send a mms to yourself first before you can receive them from other people. I had the same problem with my bb on tmobile and the rep helped me fix the problem. It should work for another carrier also.
