Is it possible to watch youtube videos in BB 8700g? When I try to watch them, it says protocol specified is not supported.

Hmm. If Scooter's suggestion does not work, I would tell you to save to a media card but your device doesnt have one.

Yes, I am using m.youtube.com. When I am clicking on the link Watch Video, it says that the protocol specified is not supported by the handheld. I am guessing whether UDP is supported by the device.

I don't believe it works. At least, I can't get it to work on my T-Mobile 8700g.

I wasn't aware you can play any video on an 8700g. There is no media card.

Am I wrong? I still have 4.1.0.284 and DM 4.2.?

If I can get video with a higher OS, I may change.

A media card is not required to watch Youtubes online; you just need a data plan, though it seems that it is not currently working on 8700s.

Thanks rachamphetamine,

If we had some video and voice dialing I may never buy a new phone.

Forgot to add that you'd also need the 4.5 OS - my brain isn't working well today. I would try TinyTube, which there is a link for ^^ up there.

Media card is not an issue. However, video is not working on my 8700g. Has anybody tried tinytube?

"Impossible" is such a strong word. Better use "improbable" since the 8700 was playing youtube videos just fine with the beta CanWest Mediaworks Player Using Sona Mobile Technology better known as bbtv.

The OTA link used to be http://video.sonamobile.net/ota2

Sadly it went down at some point :(

From what i know, streaming is only supported on devices from 9000 [BOLD] onwards. plus, it works only on the WAP browser as it is not covered in the data plan and the user will be charged extra. however, this scenario only holds true IF the carrier allows this.. OR else the user will have to use this through his WIFI on a Hotspot browser.

The 83xx also support YouTube/etc although some have more luck than others.
