Default Disble BlackBerry receiving data- possible?

Please Login to Remove!

I want to cut down on the aata I receive on my BB. Seems silly to be eating up MB of data service while I'm sitting at my desk recieving the same emails on my computer. The only thing I can think of is turning off the forwarding to the webclient from my server but this is a pain since I have to delete and then recreate the forwarding eath time.

Ideas?

Use your filters

change "Send to handheld if no filters apply" to "NO"
create filters for emails you really want on your BB

or if you want them all, just switch the filter on/off when you need

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7520/4.0.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)

If you plug your unit into your PC then it should disable the message forwarding.

It will only disable the messages if you are on a BES, though.

you can have outlook delete messages from server once the messages are pulled from your webclient. This will ensure that you get the messages on your outlook when your computer is on and on your bb when your computer is off.

On a side note, i have heard that someone had an issue because the outlook and bb did not sync up at the same times so it was like a race for the bb and outlook to see which one pulled first. I havent had that problem because I have my outlook pull every min or so.

The only problem with the filter thing is that you can't turn them on and off, you have to delete them and recreate them each time.

If I use change "Send to handheld if no filters apply" to "NO" I have to delete my SPAM filter for that to work - annoying.

Save your filters to a file...

Receiving messages on your BB is not using much bandwidth at all. I really don't think it's worth the trouble because you only get a small portion of the message and the rest comes on demand.

I don't believe thats true unless you have "receive headers only" switched on.

I did get the filters to work. Thanks for the help. Trying to cut back on Data useage now that my 3 months unlimited teaser from Telus is up!
