Default Why do people post their PIN?

Please Login to Remove!

I've noticed several people here post their PIN in their signature and for the life of me I can't imagine why.

Most people have Blackberry devices *because* they're extremely busy. I can't manage my emails the way it is and the last thing I'd ever want to add to that is messages from someone I don't even know!

Are people really THAT lonely or is there some point to posting a PIN I'm not understanding?

Well I guess if you have the time and interest then more power to you... who not also post your mobile number? Office and home numbers? Perhaps post an ad on Craigslist? ;)

Yup. Me, too. If I post my PIN and ask a really dumb question (and I WILL), someone can chew me out privately.

I don't see anything worng with posting your PIN. It's a choice that is made by each individual. Some do some don't. No worries.

I've met a few friends through pin messaging...and my social network continues to grow. I own a company that grows based on my ability to network. I found a caterer for my investor dinner from BBF and secured the details through pin messaging. I met a web designer who has been contracted to develop a website for my company through BBF. See my point? We are all a product of our own experiences. Each of us has something to offer. I have a network of thousands and thousands of BBF members to associate with. If I have a need for service I can guarantee you there is someone here on BBF who I can seek out to fill that need. Whether the relationship is friendship or business, pin messaging is yet another way to electronically connect. We live in a digital age.

It's not PIN messaging that's the concerns but rather the public solicitation of chat buddies using a static number. It's almost anti-Blackberry culture. It strikes me as odd that the same people who don't post their full names, phone numbers, or even email address will willingly post publicly in an open forum the one number that reaches them more than any other, a number they can't change or block without great effort. Traditionally the PIN is the one thing you'd NEVER give out. Is irony here lost on everyone else?

I realize this is an audience of mostly newer Blackberry users. The LAST thing I want is more messages and particularly from people I don't know. I'll go further to say that's probably true for the majority of long time Blackberry users. I guess this just just shows how the democratization of the Blackberry has really altered the average user profile from being upscale and extremely private to a mass market and young people wanting other to with just anyone. Maybe they'll add cameras and cartoons next.

Did you just seriousley blame the popularity of the blackberry with young people on democrats? did I read that wrong? as far as I know "democratization" means to make something democratic.

I honestly dont even know what to tell you. I am still dumbfounded by why you would even post a thread about this. some people want to make "e-friends", some dont.

I personally have only had two or three conversations with other users of this forum (via pin) but all have been pleasent.

anyhting else you want to cry about?
