Default BlackBerry Desktop Manager

Please Login to Remove!

Morning All,
I did what I thought was a full backup of information of my 8830 using the desktop manager.
After removing data from the phone and restoring the backup I noticed that my address book isn't being transferred or was never backed up.... arrrghhhh
What do I need to know for next time using the backup restore functions....

Is wireless reconcile of your address book enabled?

Address Book > Options.

If wireless sync is enabled, the address book will not be restored regardless if it was before enterprise activation.

If you go into the advanced option and pull up the backup file. Do you see Address Book as part of the databases backed up?

If you're on a BES you shouldn't have to do backups/restores of information (unless the BES Admin monkey'd with the default settings on the BES).

What was the original problem you were having that prompted you to want to backup/restore the address book?

Grayed out on the left column, right column, or both?

Not on a BES..
Here is the scenario.
Have the blackberry for personal use.
Then wanted to get work e-mail.
Required enterprise activation.
Might wipe out data on the 8830.
So using desktop manager i took a backup of the data on my phone.
Now receiving work e-mail but when restoring cannot restore address book and memo pad.
So I didn't do my homework in depth enough before the phone was wiped clean. I appreciate the feedback guys...

It's a little late now, but you normally don't need to wipe your BB prior to BES activation.

Databases that are unavailable in the list have been configured for wireless backup and are read-only. You cannot restore or clear them....

Which column is grayed out, the left or the right?

You can still restore your address book from the backup file.

Go into Address Book > Options > Wireless Sync = No.

Do an advanced restore of the address book.

Enable Wireless sync again.
