The BlackBerry 8830 begins shipping to all stores the week of June 18, 2007 .

It will be available on June 25th with limited quantity. Should be 499$ with 3 year contract and I presume maybe 299$ with voice/data plan they weren't to clear about the price.

World phone voice/text messaging will be working in 170 countries and data in 80 countries Nav GPS and LBS. Voice dial, audio messaging via BlackBerry messenger, MP3 and Video compatible. Micro SD compatible up to 4g.

Got to play with it last Wednesday at the prelaunch activity in Montreal.

Cant wait to get mine.

Cheers.

Is it any different from the 8800 GSM model? I find that one to be pretty junkie to my honest. The build quality is very sub-par.

Can someone PLEASE explain to me how this isn't false advertising? I wasted probably an hour yesterday looking for this device only to learn finally that's it's not out for another 2 weeks. Very desperate behavior on the part of BM, IMO.

Only an hour? I wasted 4 days. I had it ordered and cancelled it after I found out it wouldnt ship until after the 25th. I can walk in 10 minutess from my house and buy it from the store on the 25th. 99.999% of the people at Bell dont have a clue whats going on with it. I talked to them all to.

If the Telus model is delayed; the Bell model will probably be delayed as well . . . .

Telus will be getting it as well. I would guess shortly after Bell. I think Bell has a short period of exclusivity with it. My guess is Telus will probably bring it out Q4 of the same year. That being said Telus has beat Bell to the bunch before and know has known because of how quite they are with information.

It’s the pearl without the camera (with dual/quad band of course).

Can’t wait till mine come in. Still no price point from my bell Mobile rep??

Hopefully it will not come in to high. Fingers crossed XX
It's not like the Pearl at all! It's closer to the 8703e with a trackball and a memory card slot.

What? It's neither like the Pearl nor like the 8703e.
Just to make it crystal - the 8830 is exactly like an 8800 (Cingular/T-Mo/Rogers). The main difference is that the 8830 is a DUAL MODE device - CDMA + GSM.

Ofelas, is it the EXACT same size/weight as well? I found the 8800 to be very plastic feeling as opposed to the 8830 from VZN to be heavier and sturdier.

Am I just imagining things?

No, you're not imagining things. Thank God you're not on a soapbox either, unlike some people I've interacted with recently...
Although it's built on the 8800 chassis, my VZW 8830 seems heavier, sturdier & more solid than the GSM 8800.
That's because it's domestic (CDMA) versus furrin (GSM)

No, it will not be quad band (that usually refers to 4 bands of GSM)...it will have CDMA for North American/South Korean/Indian/Chinese use, and will have TWO bands of GSM for Europe, Africa & the rest of the GSM world.
The GSM bands will not work in North America, so that nixes SIM cards from Cingular AT&T/T-Mo/Rogers...
