Default email while talking

Please Login to Remove!

Currently i have t-mobile and using blackberry pearl (i like it alot and need the rim push email for instant notification of incoming emails); however, i cannot receive emails while talking on the phone (when i hang up they are delivered right away). Do any of the blackberry devices (8100, 8300, or 8800) and/or service providers (t-moble, sprint, att, verizon) allow you to receive email while talking on the phone (so i can immediatly address the email)?

At the current moment no! Unless you are attached to wifi at same time. That is one of the reasons people are awaiting a 3G BB

Welcome to the forums.

Data services are suspended (for lack of a better term) while you're using the phone. All BB devices are like this.

On the 8320, it is possible to email while on the phone while on UMA. But not on EDGE.

True, WiFi will provide that data pipe while you are on a call.

SMS is, has been, possible while on a call.

Isn't Verizon's EVDO a 3G bb? Cause I can't send or receive emails while using the phone either.

EVDO I believe isn't actually quite 3G, more along the lines of 2.5G. I may be wrong

Yes, EVDO is a 3G wireless technology.
3G just means it a "3rd Generation" type of wireless transport.
Having 3G doesn't automatically mean that you get simultaneous voice and data.
For that, you'd need UMTS.
Universal Mobile Telecommunications System - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You can't get UMTS on Verizon's current CDMA network.

To all the hardcore wireless people out there... yes, I know I'm oversimplifying.

It is very completely absolutely possible to receive email and data while you are on a phone call and have a WiFi connection.

No, you haven't.
EVDO does not support simultaneous voice and data, despite being classified as a 3G wireless technology.

there are only a few devices in the BB world that can handle simultaneous voice and data. The UMTS blackberry is *supposed to have* this feature, though i havent tested it, and the WIFI berries (none of which are available on CDMA) can do this.

Yesterday I forwarded an e-mail to a friend while talking to him. Does the device just wait till I hang up then send it? I know he got it.
