Default Activation Issue

Hi,

I am new to BES, i have recently deployed a Blackberry Professional Server. Everything appears to be ok. Ive sent an activation email to a user account added to the service. The password is received in the mailbox.

When entering the password on the device i dont get any furter. I do get the .dat file appear in the users mailbox but i never gets processed any further.

Any suggestions of what to check would be appreciated.

Welcome to BBF!

Sounds like your BESAdmin account does not have permissions to access the mailbox. Try running the IEMSTEst utility against that users mailbox and see if all tests are successful.

If not, check permissions. Odds are that is the case.

Couple of things to check:

1. Version of BES/Mail platform
2. Version of MAPI32.dll and cdo.dll, if Exchange is the mail server
3. Make sure the BB can send/receive PIN messages

Let us know what you find.

Did you set the proper SendAs permissions if running Exchange? See link below for information:

While that is good to check and make that it's in place, it's not the issue. When activating and the message is not getting picked up from the mailbox it's an access issue. The most likely cause is the Administer Information Store permission is not set.

Agreed - the agent needs to pick up the email first, and it can't do it without perms.

Is there going to be a major problem if I don't have the setup of the BESADMIN to have send as rights? I am not going to use wireless EA...just hardwire to the BES itself.

Thoughts?
