Excel is a propiatary format that only Microsoft completly knows the in and outs of. So trying to open Excel files in anything other than Microsoft Excel is genrally hit and miss at best. Even more so when working with non PC software.

It might be that the version of Office you have is too new. So the BB app you have does not know how to handle some of its details. You could try opening the files in Excel and saving them as an older Excel format, like Excel 95 and see if that works.

It is not how resent the version is as much as if it is newer. With each new version of Office Microsoft makes the format more complicated and harder to support.

Ok it sounds like the program being used has very minimal Excel support. You might try another app, but this is probably as good as it will get.

janaelbrecht, I am confused... in the first post you state the cells are not colored as you desire when you open the XLS file on your BB, and in the last post you state it gives a message of unrecognized formt, (which tells me it will not open).

Anyhow, there are some third party softwares out there that will open or view XLS files on your BB. Without, it is a difficult task. Try BeamBerry, Repligo, EOffice...

The color problem is what they are getting when they open Excel files from office 2003. The unknown file error is what they got when they saved the Excel file as an older Excel file version.

Hello all,

Whe are using no third part software, just the default BES.
Platform version 3.0.0.41
APP version 4.10.316

the problem is that whe don't see the same on the BB as on the screen of the desktop. The text is there but the colors are not correct and in this xls sheet it was a big problem because it was a holliday sheet to approve by the managerbut he did not know that the person had holliday that day because the cell was not colored.
The warring is : do whe see the correct information on the BB.
